Glorious Bhaktapur, renowned as Bhadgaon or Khwopa, stands as a majestic testament to Nepal's rich heritage. Founded in the 9th century by the illustrious King Ananda Deva, it swiftly rose to prominence, blossoming into an independent kingdom under the rule of the esteemed Malla dynasty by the 12th century. Throughout the Malla era, Bhaktapur flourished as a beacon of art, culture, and commerce, captivating all who be held its splendor.
However, in the 18th century, the kingdom's sovereignty met its end as it was annexed by King Prithvi Narayan Shah of the Gorkha Kingdom. Though its autonomy was relinquished, the legacy of Bhaktapur endures, immortalized in its breathtaking architecture and storied past.
