President Tinubu appoints Mohammed Abba as acting EFCC chairman.
Here are six things to know about the acting EFCC Chairman:
1. Mohammed Umar Abba was born on June 22, 1965, in Tudunwada Local Government Area of Kano State.
2. Abba bagged his first degree from Bayero University, Kano. He did his one-year national service at the old Anambra State Police Command and later got enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force. He attended the Nigeria Police Academy, Kaduna State, where he was commissioned in 1992.
3. CP Abba was seconded to the Commission in January 2016 to head the Counterterrorism and General Investigations, CTGI, Section at the Headquarters in Abuja.
4. He was appointed the Director of Operations of the Commission in 2017.
5. In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police.
6. On July 9, 2020, Abba stepped in as the Acting Chairman of the Commission, being the most senior operational officer when the former chairman, Ibrahim Magu, was suspended.

SANWO AGAIN: Buhari Has Not Stolen Kobo - Sanwo-Olu
The Governor of Lagos, has felicitated with President Muhammadu Buhari on his 80th birthday.
Buhari was born on December 17, 1942.
In a statement by Gboyega Akosile, his chief press secretary, Sanwo-Olu described Buhari as one who is “never found to be corrupt”.
The Lagos governor also said Buhari’s “unblemished service” in public office has made him a role model to many Nigerians.
He described Buhari as a courageous and passionate leader, whose commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria is worthy of emulation.
He also praised Buhari for delivering on his promises to Nigerians, especially in building of infrastructure, fighting insurgency, and tackling corruption.
“President Buhari to date remains one of the most respected and honest world leaders, who is never found to be corrupt despite the juicy positions he has held in the military and other public offices at state, regional, national and international levels in the last 50 years,” Sanwo-Olu said.

2023 POLITICS: My husband Will Fix Nigeria - Remi Tinubu
Remi Tinubu, senator representing Lagos central, says her husband will fix the country if elected president in 2023.
Remi Tinubu is the wife of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The senator said Tinubu’s antecedents in building Lagos would enable him to improve the country’s prospects.
She spoke with AIT on Friday after President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2023 budget proposal at the joint session of the national assembly.
“Like I said, he’s not a magician to just fix every problem in Nigeria, he(Buhari) inherited some. One of the things that gladden my heart is that he’s done well in laying foundations. We’ve seen that happen in the example of Lagos,” she said.
“When you’re building a huge building, people won’t know what goes into the foundation. I think he’s done well, and we can only wish and hope for a greater Nigeria.
“When you end something there should be other options. We pray that our administration comes on board. And that’s why when you transition and you lay certain foundations, work would have been done because what is eight years to fix a country? A country that when you inherited it wasn’t really there.
“And we can see that a lot has been done. He spoke about the rail, road network, the bridges they’ve done, power, and a lot of things. Nigeria has a very good prospect, and we can only hope for the best.
“Everybody should also play their part. Don’t worry, we(Tinubu’s administration) will fix it, that’s all I can tell you. It’s good to always raise your bar and work towards that. You don’t know other partnerships they have in making. You don’t expect him as who he is to come and start making bogus promises.”

Renovation Of National Assembly Cost N30bn - Minister
The Federal Capital Territory Administration would spend N30.222 billion in the ongoing rehabilitation of the National Assembly Complex, the Minister, Malam Musa Bello had said.
Bello disclosed this on Thursday when the Senate Committee on FCT carried out an oversight visit to various project sites being constructed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA) in Abuja, according to Daily Post.
He disclosed that the cost of approval of the rehabilitation work by President Muhammadu Buhari was N37 billion, which was included in the 2020 budget of the Federal Capital Development Administration.
He, however, explained that the cost was reviewed downward to N9.25 billion in the revised 2020 budget to enable the FCDA to pay contractors, leaving a balance of N21.025 billion.
Bello stated that the total cost of rehabilitation work which stood at N30,229, 290,830.35 billion was not part of the National Assembly’s annual budget of N128 billion as some people had claimed.
He also that the contract, which was awarded on December 30, 2021, has a completion period of two years.

2023 POLITICS: PDP, LP Will Labour To Death - Tinubu
Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a dig at opposition parties participating in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
The Osun election is scheduled to hold on July 16.
Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor, is the flagbearer of the APC, while Ademola Adeleke is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Other candidates are Lasun Yusuf of Labour Party (LP), Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord, and Goke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The former governor of Lagos, who spoke at the Osun APC mega rally on Tuesday, described the PDP and LP as “mushroom parties”.
“I ask you to please do the same thing you did in Ekiti. Come out with your PVCs and vote massively for APC,” he said.
“The voting is now in your hand. Be very vigilant. Be watchful. You will not do it in vain.
“Think about your children and vote accordingly so you can see the future. Come out en masse. Don’t mind PDP and other mushroom parties — parties like Labour; they will labour till they die. God will not make you labourers.
“You’re next. We will be here till tomorrow. We will come back here for victory dance. Look at the trajectory of our lives. We make promises and fulfil them. We are the ones upholding the party, the Buhari party. Don’t answer the naysayers.”

KUJE PRISON: I Suspect Protesters Over Attacks On Prisons
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has fingered the protests as prompting attacks on correctional facilities in the country.
This was revealed in a press statement by his Media Adviser, Sola Fasure, from his visit to the Kirikiri Maximum and Minimum correctional centres in Lagos on Tuesday.
While boasting that jailbreaks attempted by inmates have not been successful at any of the facilities, he expressed concerns that there had been more attacks from the outside on correctional facilities since the protests of October 2020.
He said, “So far, no jailbreak by inmates has been successful, we have successfully quelled all of them. What we have recurring since the protests of October 2020, has been a mass of people attacking our facilities from outside and setting the inmates free.
"However, I have now directed the Controller General of the NCOS to double his efforts on intelligence gathering to fortify and prevent breaches to the Custodial Centres beyond the use of arms and force.”

Muslim-Muslim: I'm Taking MKO Abiola 1993's Steps - Tinubu
The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sunday gave reasons he picked Senator Kasim Shettima as his running mate.
In a statement he sent to Vanguard, Former Governor of Lagos state, opined that the spirit of 1993 is upon Nigerians again in 2023.
On why he picked the former governor of Borno as his vice presidential candidate, Tinubu said: “Senator Kasim Shettima’s career in politics and beyond shows that he is eminently qualified not only to deliver that all important electoral victory, but, also, step into the shoes of the Vice President. As a man with the talent, maturity, strength of character, and patriotism he has my implicit confidence and faith.”
On Muslim-muslim ticket, Tinubu said: “I am aware that many will continue focus on a particular detail, the question of his faith. However, if we truly understand the challenges upon us a nation, then we must also see the imperative of placing competence in governance above religious sentiment.

2023 POLITICS: Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun Meets Bola Ahmed Tinubu In Paris, France
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in Paris, France.
The duo of Tinubu and Abiodun are members of the ruling APC.
Sharing a picture on his social media handles, Abiodun said he spent quality time with Tinubu, the national leader of the APC.
According to him, the two of them had rubbed minds on numerous party and national issues during their meeting.
“Spent quality time with our party leader and Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rub minds on numerous party and National issues,” Abiodun said.

BIZARRE: Unknown Gunmen Set INEC Office, Equipment Ablaze in Enugu
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Enugu State, Mr. Emeka Ononamadu, reported that our Igboeze North Local Government Area office was set ablaze by unknown arsonists. The attack happened at 11.48pm on Sunday 3rd July 2022.
The arsonists overpowered the security guards, forced their way into the premises and set the building ablaze. Although no casualties were reported, 748 ballot boxes, 240 voting cubicles, office furniture and equipment were destroyed in spite of the best effort of the Enugu State Fire Service deployed from Nsukka. The Commission is working to ascertain the status of voter registration machines for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as well as uncollected Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) locked up in the fireproof cabinet.
The incident has been reported to the Nigeria Police for investigation and further action.
The attack, coming in the middle of the voter registration exercise and other preparations for 2023 General Election, is worrisome. It will be recalled that on 23rd May 2021, our office in the neighbouring Igboeze South Local Government Area was attacked in a similar manner by unknown gunmen. This followed earlier attacks on Udenu Local Government Area office on 13th May 2021 and the State Headquarters in Enugu on 16th May 2021. The Commission has since substantially recovered from these attacks and resumed normal activities there, including the CVR and collection of PVCs.
The Commission will continue to work with the security agencies and the emergency services to protect our facilities.
