[BR036] COMING SOON / TIGER BEAT “Art Imitates Art”. Bellicose is proud to present TIGER BEAT, the psych/garage rock&roll bedroom project of Orlando, Florida mastermind John Welch (aka Mother Juno ). Tiger Beat has now evolved in a full band, but when most of these recordings were made, it was a solo project for John, a labor of love that showcases extreme care, intricate songwriting and performance, and a deep appreciation for the best psych rock of the 60s, most notably the all-time greats The Velvet Underground. Fans of lo-fi and experimental rock like the Velvets, as well as Iggy Pop, Beat Happening, Hasil Adkins, and the best 60s garage rock acts, take note. However, while it’s sound is influenced by the greats, the lyrics and brilliance of this project/tape is completely unique and refreshing. Timeless topics like love, psychedelics and the creative process are explored. These are still songs for the Modern Age, as the opening track makes reference to in its prophetic and vital lyrics. TIGER BEAT’s debut tape drops April 30th. Don’t miss this. Don’t live in the past.

[BR010] N.E.0.N. ‘The Time Changes The Problems Don’t’ //

NE0N began as the synthpunk solo project of Sweater’s Skylar Poppell . Through six tracks that vary widely in direction and sound, NE0N’s debut EP ‘The Time Changes The Problems Don’t’ paints a truly dystopian image of the technological no-mans-land that is more than likely sure to become more present and relevant as time passes on. The album finds its thematic home in a “futuristic world painted with neon lights”. The tracks feature synth-punk ragers with despondent top-tier vocals and brilliantly inventive music. The ep also has occasional detours into experimental electronic and noise music that even on its own could be a recent high-mark of their respective styles. The dystopian wasteland is probably not far off, but at least we’ll have NE0N to listen to as it all falls down around us. This latest promo tape includes 5 violently velocious tracks, steadily maneuvering between sludgy durgelike breakdowns and rapidfire, classic pv blastbeats. Sourpuss undoubtedly brings some of the fastest and most aggressive sounds Jacksonville’s latest crop of hardcore bands have to offer. Tapes will be a limited run of 60. The promo will drop on Nov. 19th, and the cassettes will be available at the bellicose bandcamp (linked below) the same day, or locals can get them from the band directly at gigs.
