January ➡️ December 2024…I gotta be honest, I had a great year.
That’s so annoying for someone to say, right?! Hear me out…2015 - 2019 were also amazing years. 2020 - 2023 were very difficult. I thought my sober inspired luck and universal good will had run out. This year I was back on an upswing. In every one of these years - good and bad - I have had the power to choose daily behaviors and habits keep me sober and healthy regardless of external circumstances. As a result, my life has been headed in the right direction, regardless of the day to day to challenges. During the difficult years, I still owned and renovated the studio and started the podcast and social media stuff.
I can zoom out and say though there were times that I wasn’t happy IN my life each day, I was happy WITH my life and the overall direction I was headed. My small and consistent daily habits of calling my sponsor, meditating, journaling and working out keeps my trajectory headed up 📈, though there may be peaks and valleys along the way. Small, consistent healthy habits. What are yours?!

When we experience success as a process and a result of trying something and learning every time vs believing success to be immediate achievement we are much better prepared to be tenacious in sobriety. Did you learn something in each sobriety attempt? What?

I simply can’t thank you all enough for listening to the show, sharing with friends, DMing me about episodes, writing reviews on Apple and giving stars on Spotify. The support of this amazing has been a vital part of my life and recovery for years now and I’m so grateful for all of you. The best part of the show is connecting with listeners and the all the connections we have made. Please tell me what would best help you next year - from both myself and my guests. Recovery tools, fitness, wellness, self-esteem, mindset work…? What are we working on together next year?! When I get sober I thought I would never have fulfilling relationships again and I couldn’t have been more wrong. We are the lucky ones, and we DO recover - together. 🤝
Happy Holidays, yall!! ♥️💚🎅🎄🫶

In 2013, I totally gave up on ever getting sober. I had been trying for over a decade and it worked for everyone else but not me - it seemed. I would get high and tell people my dreams for the future…and people would be so sad for me lol - sitting on the floor picking my face, sucked up and talking about teaching spin and yoga. But I did it!! YOU know in your SOUL, you deserve better - nurture your dream!

When I first got sober in 2015, one of my first classes at Cycology - which becomes Studio Cybrid - was an hour long classic rock ride on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am. On Sundays, the bus schedule in San Diego is significantly more limited for whatever reason. To make it by 8:00 am, I had to leave my sober living at like 5:00 am, taking the sprinter, then two busses to get there. There were many, MANY mornings that I did not want to do this haul. It sucked. BUT. I LOVED that class. That dang studio and those clients meant more to me than my anything in my life. Those early days of the sober “newcomer grind,” taught me something vital - if the “why” is important enough, I will make it work. Later when I owned that same studio during the pandemic, it was really hard to show up every day. BUT. Again, those clients, the staff and that space were my whole world and my “why” was still strong enough to keep it all going. When I came across this Victor Frankl quote, it all came together. Any time I am feeling defeated or down, I can consciously reconnect to my purpose and breathe new life and energy into my day and tasks. I invite you to do the same…where are you struggling the most? What is your “why?” Try reconnecting to your purpose - it will reinvigorate your actions. 🤝🤸🏼‍♀️🤗🤗
(Swipe through to see baby lol)
