PHOTOS: Police Patrol Lagos Ahead Of Independence Day Rallies
Men of the Rapid Response Squad and the Lagos Task Force have embarked on a patrol of the Lagos metropolis ahead of Saturday’s Independence Day and planned political rallies in the state.
Some of the policemen were seen at the Lekki Tollgate, a venue which the Federal High Court in Lagos had directed the supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, not to gather at.
In a tweet, the RRS said, “In continuation of its routine convoy patrol of the metropolis as directed by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi is presently leading RRS team and Lagos Taskforce on convoy patrol of the city.”

Tinubu Is Resting In London, Says APC Campaign Council Member
A member of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council, Ayo Oyalowo, has said that the presidential candidate of APC, Bola Tinubu, went to London to rest.
Oyalowo disclosed this in an interview with Arise TV on Thursday. The whereabouts of the APC candidate had been a trending topic on Twitter.
When asked where Tinubu is and what he is doing, Oyalowo stated that Tinubu is in London resting because people would not let him rest after working an average of 20 hours each day. As a result, Tinubu was advised to take a break before the official start of the campaign.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in London. He cannot rest in Lagos, they will not let him rest. He came to Abuja most of the time, and they will still not let him rest. This man has been working for an average of 20 hours in the 24 hours in each day. So reasonable people thought he should leave the country because people will not let him rest since the campaign is coming soon,” he said.
Oyalowo went on to say that the invitation to the peace accord, which was signed on Thursday in Abuja, came after Tinubu left the country and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, who was in Maiduguri, travelled to represent him at the event.
“The invitation for the peace accord came after Tinubu left the country. Even his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, was not in town, he had to leave what he was doing in Maiduguri.”

▪︎Adeniyi Hammed from Lagos Island shared his success story on how he makes profit of about N6000 to N8000 daily.
"I started selling cooked Ofada rice four years ago. I sell majorly by hawking the rice round Yaba axis.
When there was no means to further my education after graduating from Dolphin High School in 2007, I started learning from my mother who used to sell Ofada rice.
I am married with a kid and I feed myself and my family with the money I make from this business. I make about N25k daily from the sales of the Ofada rice and my profit from this amount is about N6k to N8.
My wife has joined me in this business; she sells Ofada in Alaba market.
Interestingly, my brother also sells rice. I cook the Ofada rice I sell myself.
We also cook at parties for people who are interested in having the Ofada rice at their events.
People laugh at me when they see me hawking the food. But then, I am 29 years old and I need to survive against all odds.
I learnt the art of sculpting and molding objects by the side too. I am Adeniyi Hammed, I come from Lagos Island.

ASUU extends strike again by 4 weeks.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended the ongoing strike again by four weeks.
President of the union, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, August 1.
He said the extension, which takes immediate effect on August 1, was to give the government enough time to resolve all outstanding issues with the lecturers.
The statement reads: "Following extensive deliberations and taking cognisance of Government’s past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MOA), NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for four weeks to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues. The roll-over strike action is with effect from 12.01 am on Monday, 1st August 2022.
"An emergency meeting of the National Executive Council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) held at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja, Abuja, on Sunday, 31st July 2022. The meeting was called to review developments since NEC’s resolution to extend its roll-over strike action by another 12 weeks with effect from May 2022..."
