The North Country Union (Newport, VT) varsity football team has a neutral playoff game vs. Bellows Falls (VT) on Saturday, November 4.
This game is a part of the "2023 Vermont High School Football Playoff Brackets: VPA - Division II" tournament.
#2 Varsity Football (8-2) held on to defeat #3 Bellows Falls (5-5) in a D2 Semifinal thriller 21-20 in overtime on a windy Friday night at Veterans Field. Watson Laffoon scored on a 4th and 1 in OT and Evan Ballinger’s kick made it 21-14 Falcons. After a TD by Bellows Falls made it 21-20 Falcons, the defense stopped a fake PAT by the Terriers to seal the win and punch their ticket to Rutland. Hayden Boivin (45 yd TD run) and Justin Young (14 yd TD run) both scored touchdowns in regulation. Evan Ballinger was 3/3 on PAT’s. Coach Wade’s Falcons will play for the 2023 D2 Football State Championship on Saturday 11/11 (Veterans Day) @ Rutland High School time tbd. VPA ticket pricing will apply.
