“Look for those you grew up with and help them” – Kanayo says, gifts friend he dug pit latrines with during his early days money::::

Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared advice with the public as he gifts an old friend he used to dig pit latrines in the past.

The seasoned actor posted a video of himself with some family members while cooling off in his village.

KOK continued by revealing that one of the men—the one seated next to him—had been his partner in their early days of hustle. He remembered digging pit latrines for people.

The Kanayo underlined how important it is for people to constantly watch out for their childhood friends, regardless of whether they are superior to them or wealthier than them.

He went on to give the man some cash which left him super-excited as he appreciated KOK for the kind gesture.

Captioning the video, he wrote:

“Look out for those you grew up with.
Chased rats and did menial jobs with.
You may have grown richer than them or in better health. Thank God.
Don’t celebrate them in death.
Look out for them and offer some help. At all, at all an him bad.
God is waiting for you in 2024 to do that,
as a thanksgiving for your continuous elevation.

Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the beleaguered former governor of Kogi State, declared he was prepared to face the Federal High Court in Abuja to address the 19-count indictment that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, had brought against him.

Though Bello was absent for his arraignment, he briefed a team of lawyers who addressed the court on his behalf on Tuesday.

Mr. Adeola Adedipe, SAN, a member of his legal team, informed the court that although his client would have been willing to attend the hearings, he was worried about getting arrested.

“The defendant wants to come to court but he is afraid that there is an order of arrest hanging on his head,” Adedipe, SAN, submitted.

Consequently, he urged the court to set aside the exparte order of arrest it earlier issued against the former governor.

Adedipe, SAN, contended that as at the time the order of arrest was made, the charge had not been served on his client as required by the law.

He noted that it was only at the resumed proceedings on Tuesday that the court okayed substituted service of the charge on the defendant, through his lawyer.

“As at the time the warrant was issued, the order for substituted service had not been made. That order was just made this morning.

“A warrant of arrest should not be hanging on his neck when we leave this court,” counsel to the defendant added.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier declared Yahaya Bello wanted for an alleged financial crime to the tune of N80.2 billion.

However, the Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency called on those with vital information about the former Kogi governor’s whereabouts to reach the commission or the police.

PUBLICATION OF THE FINAL LIST OF CANDIDATES FOR THE EDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

The Commission is pleased to announce the publication of the final list of candidates for the Edo State Governorship Election. Following the initial primaries, the Commission published the personal particulars of the Governorship candidates and their running mates in our State and Local Government offices in Edo State.

In line with the provision of Section 33 of the Electoral Act 2022, some political parties conducted fresh primaries to replace their earlier nominated candidates by the deadline of 15th April 2024. The Action Alliance (AA) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) replaced their Governorship candidates and their running mates. In addition, the African Action Congress (AAC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Boot Party (BP) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) replaced the running mates of their candidates only.

Overall, seventeen (17) political parties are fielding candidates in the election. Sixteen (16) are male while one (1) is female. The final list, which also gives the breakdown of the candidates by age, academic qualifications and disability, has been published at our office in Edo State and also uploaded to our website and social media platforms for public information.

COMMENCEMENT OF CAMPAIGN BY POLITICAL PARTIES IN PUBLIC

With the publication of the final list of candidates for the Edo State Governorship Election, the next activity is electionering campaign.

As provided by Section 94(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, campaign by Political Parties in public shall commence not earlier than 150 days before polling day and end 24 hours prior to that day.

Therefore, Political Parties are now permitted to start campaign in public from Wednesday 24th April 2024 and end at midnight on Thursday 19th September 2024 as indicated in items 8 and 12 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the election.

As parties commence this critical phase of the election, the Commission reminds candidates, agents and their supporters of the provision of the law and the Commission's guidelines governing such activity. For emphasis, parties shall conduct their campaigns with civility and decorum devoid of inciting language, violence, voter inducement and other infractions mentioned in Sections 92 - 97 of the Electoral Act 2022.

The Edo State Governorship Election is scheduled to hold on Saturday 21st September 2024.

Stop Disrupting Yahaya Bello Fundamental Human Right!! More Than 500 Lawyers Storm Supreme Court Condemned EFCC's Abuse Of Judicial Process

No fewer than 500 legal practitioners from across the country, Monday, stormed the Supreme Court in condemnation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) “illegal” approach against former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello.

In a statement signed by its co-convener S.K Alewu, the group lamented the EFCC’s attempt to arrest the former governor despite being served a valid court order that restrains them from doing so.

Alewu said not only has Bello’s fundamental rights been breached, he said the judiciary has become willing tools in the hands of enemies of our rule of law.

The lawyers, therefore, urged the Nigerian Judicial Council and President Bola Tinubu to call the EFCC to order to stop further abuse and disobedience of court orders

The two wives of the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, are currently trying to outshine each other, with both of them laying claim to the Office of the First Lady of the state.

The two women, Ngozi and Titilola, have printed different posters that have gone viral with their names and pictures welcoming Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to the state.

Mrs Tinubu is billed to be in Osogbo, the state capital on Tuesday for the turning of sod of the Alternative High School For Girls at Oke D.O, Ilesha Road.

In her poster, Ngozi Adeleke wrote, "Welcome to the state of living spring. Experience the beauty of Osun State's landscape" and signed off as the First Lady of Osun State.
