Meet Dr. Maryse Manasse!

Tell us a bit about your business. How did it start?

"Growing up I had a family dentist who took pride in his art, with patients and the community at large. Everyone felt welcomed. I also wanted to share my passion and love of dentistry to my patients. From routine cleaning to a complex implant smile makeover, I wanted to make sure our patients knew they are my priority!"

"My dental practice opened its doors in June 2021. I renovated the dental space of the previous retired dentist with a more modern and serene vibe. The layout brings a more calming yet functional set-up. I realized when I was designing the office, I wanted to radiate a calming vibe while working efficiently. Dentistry can be enjoyable and stress-free! Our patients are exposed to high-end technology throughout the office, which helps with their customized treatments."

Meet Local Mom Pauline O’Leary, a personal chef and “Jamerican_foodie” creator with a passion to bring friends and neighbors together with food and good conversation.

When asked what was the best advice on motherhood that she had ever received, Pauline responded, “ The best advice I ever got was "take the help." Cranford moms have been my family and that is a big part of my love for this town. If you are like me, with no family close by, you are in the perfect town.”

Knights of Columbus Makes Joint Donation with Support from Martin’s Jewelers

Working together with Ellen Ramer of Martin’s Jewelers and with the support of Caren Demyen of Downtown Cranford, we were able to raise over $6,000 for Cranford Firefighter Rob Hurewitz and his family. We also had a very deserving winner in Gina Pachkowski, the owner of Alleum Yoga here in town who is a big supporter of many charities and causes here in Cranford.

On behalf of Ellen and Martin Jewelers, the Cranford Council would like to thank everyone who supported this worthy fundraiser, and we are very appreciative of all of the support that we received from Caren and our local Cranford businesses and our special friends in our community.

RAKE & HOE GARDEN CLUB OF WESTFIELD BRINGS VALENTINE’S DAY SURPRISE TO MOBILE MEALS OF WESTFIELD CLIENTS

Josephine Walsh, Operations Manager, Mobile Meals of Westfield was presented with beautiful floral arrangements for their clients by Rake & Hoe Garden Club of Westfield in time for Valentine’s Day. Ms. Walsh commented, “Our clients always appreciate receiving these thoughtful arrangements.”

Meet local pet Mulligan, a professional snuggler with a spinning side hustle for treats.

Mulligan is a 2 year old Morkiepoo who loves stealing socks around his house!

We asked his family what they like best about their pet.

“Although Mulligan has periods of barking when he wants attention, he is a professional snuggler.  He’ll lay on your lap watching a movie and sleep in with the family on the weekends.  He’s extremely friendly and loves meeting other dogs and people while walking through Cranford.”

Beth Lambe Named Governor’s Teacher of the Year
For Brookside Place School 2022-23

Beth Lambe has been named the Governor's Teacher of the Year for Brookside Place School (BPS) as part of the 2022-2023 Governor’s Teacher/Educational Services Professional Recognition Program.

“When I think of the teaching profession, the old adage ‘choose a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life,’ always comes to mind. Not only do I love to teach, but I have fun each day I am with my students. I truly enjoy watching them grow and learn, especially when they are struggling and then finally have the ‘aha’ moment,” said Ms. Lambe, who has 31 years of teaching experience, with 29 years in the Cranford school district, first serving as a middle school teacher at Hillside Avenue School. HISTORY RY IN THE MAKING AS WESTFIELD AREA YMCA HOSTS CAMP AND CHILD CARE OPEN HOUSES AND BEGINS CELEBRATION OF CENTENNIAL YEAR 

In 2023, the Westfield Area YMCA celebrates its 100th anniversary of service to the community. The Y will kick off the celebration with special hours on New Year's Day: from 10:00am-4:00pm. A limited-edition commemorative 100th anniversary long sleeve workout shirt will be distributed to current and new members for the first few months of the year, while supplies last. Centennial celebration events and activities will be announced throughout 2023. 

Summer Day Camp and Child Care Open Houses will be held on Saturday, January 7 from 10am-Noon. This summer's theme is “History in the Making” as the Y provides an opportunity for campers ages 3-15 to express themselves, try new activities, learn new skills, make new friends, be creative and have a blast! Summer Camp Open Houses will be held at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street and the Garwood Family Center Y, 500 East Street. Camps are ACA-accredited and located in Cranford, Garwood, Mountainside and Westfield. Full and half-day traditional, sports, S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) and leadership development camps are available by the week or all summer long. Camp Early Bird registration begins January 2 and ends on January 31. Child Care Open Houses will be held at the Bauer Branch YMCA, 422 East Broad Street; Early Learning Center YMCA, 170 Elm Street; and Garwood Family Center YMCA, 500 East Street. Registration for full-day childcare, half- and full-day preschool, full-day Kindergarten and Kindergarten Wraparound will be available for the 2023-2024 school year. Registration for after school care will begin in March.

The Y is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Financial assistance is available for YMCA programs and memberships for those who qualify.

OPTIMIST AND ROTARY CLUBS OF WESTFIELD DONATE FOOD GIFT CARDS TO MOBILE MEALS OF WESTFIELD

“Thank you on behalf of our Mobile Meals clients,” said Josephine Walsh, Operations Manager of Mobile Meals of Westfield, in accepting food gift cards from Optimist Club and Rotary Club both of Westfield. Mobile Meals of Westfield is a non-profit organization which provides prepared meals for those individuals unable to provide meals for themselves. Mobile Meals serves the communities of Clark, Cranford, Fanwood, Garwood, Mountainside, Scotch Plains and Westfield.

The Optimist Club of Westfield food distribution program has been an annual community service project for the past 32 years. This project is made possible through the generosity and funding from the Optimist and Rotary clubs and contributions from members, friends and local organizations. The food gift cards were presented by Darielle Walsh and Tony LaPorta, Presidents of Optimist and Rotary Clubs respectively.
