One of the chief causes for the attack is Ukraine’s desire to join The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), an intergovernmental alliance between twenty-eight European countries and two North American countries (including the US) that has been seen as a consistent threat to Russia. Nations around the world attempt to walk a fine line between avoiding direct conflict with Russia while also helping the 42 million people who call Ukraine home.”

“Concussions: one of the most common injuries in sports. A concussion caused when the head takes hit that causes the brain to move back and forth rapidly. Usually, the symptoms of a concussion last for about 1-12 weeks, but if a person repeatedly gets concussion, this may lead to some major problems. In the National Football League (NFL), concussions and neck injuries are all too common. While the league has taken many measures to limit head and neck injuries, players are still experiencing these types of injuries regularly and unfortunately, the long-term impact is alarming.”

The event was revived after holding a virtual ceremony the past two years and was the first event to be held in the newly refurbished Branciforte Auditorium. The ceremony, which took place on Feb. 8, was centered around the theme “Pictionary” and displayed artwork that “spoke a thousand words.”

“LHS students ushered in a new era for the Lynbrook Fine and Performing Arts Department on Feb. 15 at the annual Jazz and Pop Concert. This concert was the first to be performed in the John F. Brancifort Auditorium, which opened this month after a two-year renovation period. It was also the first Jazz and Pop Concert hosted by Fine and Performing Arts Department Director Adrianna Schaefer, who took over after former director Joseph Pallotta’s retirement last spring.”

“With January already behind us, many students are beginning to question whether we have truly held on to our New Year’s resolutions – like reading more, eating healthier, or perhaps even stressing less. “Three good habits I have are waking up at the same time every weekday, showering every morning, and eating a healthy breakfast. However, I still have bad habits, such as procrastination and biting my nails,” said Paula Rojas-Young, a freshman. The entire idea of a New Year’s resolution is an effort to make a perceived positive action become habitual. However, as we try to put this into practice, we begin to realize that it is quite difficult to execute new, good habits, and that it is also difficult to break bad ones.”

“At Congregation Beth Israel, a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, a gunman held four Jewish victims at gunpoint, including the congregation’s Rabbi, on Jan. 15. The gunman, Malik Akram, entered the synagogue during the Saturday services and began to make threats. According to PBS, Texas resident Victoria Francis “said she heard the man rant against America and claim he had a bomb.” The service was being live streamed, allowing remote viewers to witness the event.”
