By Victoria Bannon Liverpool City council has been awarded £360,000 to help young adults with learning difficulties get into employment roles. This plan is apart of a national scheme to help people with special educational needs who don't have an education health and care plan who would like to have work placement opportunities. The Department of Education awarded funding to Liverpool as the city have already ran a successful intern-to-work supported internship programme over the last 12 months....

Overflowing bins and piles of rubbish - it's rat heaven. There have been recent complaints about rat sightings in Liverpool. NHS leaders across Merseyside are insisting parents and guardians of children aged 6 -11 years in the region, to book any missed measles vaccinations at their GP practice to ensure full protection against the disease. This is due to a rise in cases across the area. Liverpool City Council: Professor Ian Ashworth, Director of Population Health at NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, said: “Uptake of routine childhood vaccinations, including the MMR vaccine, is the lowest it has been in a decade and is well below the 95% uptake needed to protect the population and prevent outbreaks.”...

Japan were knocked out of the Asia Cup on the weekend after Jahanbakhsh converted his 96th minute winning penalty. Japan had originally taken the lead in the game thanks to a 28th minute goal from Morita. Although this goal was later cancelled out by Mohebi who equalised for Japan in the 55th minute. The fire started in a four-storey building on Fox Street, in the outskirts of Liverpool City Centre. Fortunately, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene quickly and were able to prevent the fire from getting any bigger. Concerns are increasing across Merseyside as measles outbreaks are on the rise. The uptake of the MMR vaccination is down to just 60% in some areas in the region. Severe weather warnings have been put out in Merseyside this week as winds up to 100mph are expected from storm Isha. Mersey rail have announced on X.com that some services will be affected by the 'poor weather' following the cancellation of the Ormskirk line last night after a tree had blown onto the railway. There has been other travel disruptions on national rail with no trains running in Glasgow after warnings of 'danger to life.' Network rail are advising everyone in the north west to check their journey before travelling....
