Custom Built Quail Coop
So, I decided that rabbit hutches are for rabbits and built a quail mansion. The standard for Coturnix quail is 1 square foot per bird and this coop is 18sq ft which gives our dozen quail a lot more room. They already seem very happy with their new home. I've added some tree clippings to the coop because quail are ground birds and love to hide in the underbrush. I think it turned out pretty great.

Quail Sandbox?
A playground sandbox for quail? My Coturnix quail love to bathe in the sand to keep their feathers oil and moisture free and reduce the chance of parasites. Yeah, I could have just used a plastic bin but building stuff is fun.

New House For The Covey
Our new friends have a new home and they seem to be pretty pleased with it. Priscilla has requested a run for them so that will be added to the list as well for future builds. This old rabbit hutch is a pretty suitable quail coop I think.

My Urban Homestead Starter
I'm just a little jealous of my mom's house. The chickens, pigs, huge garden, clothes on the line, corn blowing in the wind...but I don't live in the country. I have wanted to do an urban homestead for a long time and I'm FINALLY starting it this spring. I'm going to use every space that I can. We took about a day and a half and went on a mini-trip to St Augustine, Florida. I've always wanted to visit the St Augustine Alligator Farm and ride our scooters through the historic district. We got to do both of those things and it was a blast!

What Not To Do At Devil's Tower

Checking that one off my bucket list! I have wanted to see this impressive monument and place of spiritual and cultural significance for years. I'm so glad we got to see it. Keep in mind there's not much to do in the area for casual tourists so we'd recommend just one day to explore and learn.
