🚨 Final stages of pattern production!!!
I’m blocking out my pieces so I can get nice clean photos of them. A final pattern is closer than ever!
My toxic trait is thinking I can do something that takes an hour, in 5 minutes. When I do this I’m unconsciously setting unrealistic goals, and almost immediately setting myself up for failure.

I start doing the project, it’s taking much longer than expected, I get frustrated that I’m so slow, which leads to becoming disinterested, and eventually I will abandon the project altogether. I’ll start a new project, one that I deem ‘easier’ for whatever reason, and the cycle continues.

The difference this time around is that I’m not abandoning this one. I feel all of those same feelings, but this time I refuse to give up. I very much owe it to myself to share my designs with the world; and I will no longer allow an uncomfortable feeling, internal or external, to stop me.

There is a part of me that is embarrassed to say I have been working on this same pattern for 3 months and I’m still not done. I have to constantly remind myself to not compare myself to others, and to give myself grace. Yes, I have crocheted for many years but I have only started learning how to write and design patterns.

Moral of the story: Good things take time. It’s just really hard to remember that when you’re constantly staring at the clock.

Today we’re going n**e 🫢
After intermittently working on my doll base pattern for almost 6 months- I am FINALLY at the refining for quality phase.
I try not to give myself deadlines; if I do I will find every way to avoid them. But I think it’s safe to say that my standard doll pattern will be finalized and published on the blog by the end of this month!

This mosaic blanket was the JoAnn crochet-a-long pattern in 2020. It was peak pandemic and I needed a quarantine project. The essential stores were open, at extremely limited capacity, and I stood in line for almost an hour to go buy the yarn.
This was the project that reignited my passion for crochet, and the first blanket I made that I truly loved. It really helped me learn the ropes of tapestry crochet, which is now arguably one of my favorite things to create. You can make so many cool designs with it, and the blankets keep you warm (no toes sticking through big crochet holes lol)
