We are BACK with our annual reflection series “When the ball Drops”, talking about our year in review and those defining moments. We’ll be counting down our top ten moments, you’ll be meeting and seeing some new people, and getting a BTS look into our business efforts over the course of the year.
A little #tbt to our holiday shoot to this past December. We had a blast letting our holiday sprits fly loose and creating a set that was both a winter wonderland (all indoors mind you) and full of whimsy and fun. We are so lucky to have such an imaginative team that can create the most fantastic sets. We really are becoming a one stop shop! Check out our other works on the AMSA website to see the entire range of our imagination!

Being able to separate your work and personal life is not easy. But as a firm believer in the greater the risk, the greater reward, disrupting your life at the moment will have its benefits in the future. This rings even louder when it’s your own business. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Mercedes discusses the struggle of maintaining a healthy work life balance. Between being a mother, wife, and CEO all within the same physical space is quite the challenge, but through her struggles in 2021 came a better understanding to help promote and establish the AMSA brand.

Creating the client’s vision while remaining within a budget is like walking a tightrope. You need to ensure that the client’s expectations are met without devaluing your own work. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Alex talks about the stress that comes with managing production budgets versus client’s expectations and the difficulty of wanting to provide the best for their vision while not selling your own services short.

Developing content, strategy, and planning to become a concise and valuable voice on social media was a difficult challenge of AMSA in 2021. We began to question ourselves if we are providing enough value for our #AMSAFam as well as engaging with the community. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Norris discusses his setbacks in 2021, as well as the hope that through everything we learned and collaboration with our audience, we can provide as much value as possible come 2022.

It is hard to feel like you belong in a space, position, or role that you are not used to. Especially when you see so many people around you and on social media doing what you do without effort. However, finding comfort in those knowing who you are and what value you contribute is critical in owning your space and seizing your opportunity. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Mercedes discusses finding her own voice as a leader and business owner, all while combating imposter syndrome.

Juggling a team, hitting deadlines, and being flexible is never easy. Sometimes it feels like the weight of the world on your shoulder. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Alex talks about the difficulties on completing projects while maintaining drive and trying to alleviate the pressure that work and life place on your shoulders.

Stepping out of your norm and being open to collaboration can lead to successes unimaginable. This past November we had the opportunity to collaborate with @scrd_bmore to develop a month long workshop series going over the complexities of business. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Norris reflects on the successes that workshop series provided as well as how through the right collaboration we can expand and become bigger and better.

Building a team can be just as difficult as staying a team. It takes a lot of time, dedication, and vulnerability to build trust and reach success together. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Mercedes talks about the struggles of being a leader and the glue that keeps the team together. Constantly trying to keep the ship afloat while searching for new opportunities can easily become overwhelming, but through taking a step back, re-learning, and establishing each member of the team, we are confident that she can steer us in the right direction in 2022. #AMSAFam #Whentheballdrops #Baltimoresmallbusiness
We all know the feeling and saying of "too many cooks in the kitchen." But I don't think we often realize that sometimes multiple hands touch the same project/task differently. In production, you invest tens of thousands of dollars in equipment, and invaluable time into creating the vision. While we're huge believers in collaboration, defining roles is key in any successful production because of how quickly that vision can be swayed. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, Alex discusses how at AMSA we have curated a fluid environment, but within our defined areas of expertise. We all know when to step in and when to leave it to others, which makes our processes streamlined and on task.

The landscape of business is always evolving, however sometimes it evolves too quickly, and it demands that you keep up. When the COVID pandemic hit, plenty of businesses had to readjust their strategies and business models to remain competitive. In this episode of When The Ball Drops, AMSA's Norris reflects on the competitive landscape that has emerged in 2021, and how our own hindsight this past year will lead to greater foresight for 2022. #amsafam #baltimoresmallbusiness #whentheballdrops
