A bug in the latest HBO Max app for iOS is preventing people from watching while using AirPods. This is not the first time the HBO Max app for Apple devices has encountered issues. For example, the Apple TV version of the app featured a bug earlier in the year that prevented it from performing basic functions, such as seeking forward or rewinding.

Bugs aside, HBO Max has a great library of original content as well as a back catalog of general content. The service costs $14.99 per month for the ad-free version or $9.99 each month with ads. However, it's a bit more complicated than that, as the ad-free version has also been providing access to Warner Bros. movies as they're released in theaters throughout 2021. In addition, the cheaper plan does limit the user to 1080p HD and doesn't support offline downloading.

Google has recently started rolling out a fix for iMessage emojis that aren't coming through correctly in Android text messages. Ideally, messaging would be a universal solution showing the same images, text, animations, and Emoji to all. Unfortunately, developers diverged on this issue and iPhone messages don't have the same appearance on Android phones as they do on Apple devices.

Google has made several attempts at a cross-platform messaging service but none have proven successful. Google Talk, Hangouts, and Duo are chat services, while Google Voice, Hangouts, and Allo are texting services. All offered good solutions to various needs, but it was a bit confusing why there were so many and, unfortunately, none proved to be popular enough on the iPhone to become a universal messaging solution. It's unlikely that Apple will ever make its Messages app available to Android users, so that leaves the task of better integration to Google.

More than two years after being locked out of the U.S. market following the Trump administration's stringent sanctions, Huawei is reportedly looking to regain access to critical components and possibly sneak back into the U.S. market by exploiting a legal loophole. The Chinese telecom giant was blacklisted by the U.S. government in 2019, severely hurting its global sales. Called the 'Entity List,' the blacklist prevented the company from selling its goods and services in the U.S. and restricted American firms from selling specific hardware and software components.

Unable to access critical components, the company hived off its 'Honor' smartphone brand into a separate company and sold it off to a consortium of buyers in China to help the unit survive in the face of U.S. sanctions. The blacklisting also resulted in the company losing access to global semiconductor foundries for manufacturing its HiSilicon Kirin smartphone SOCs and other chips. It also meant that the company no longer had access to Google's Android operating system, something that negatively impacted its smartphone sales globally.
