My show is out of previews, so I have time for lessons/coachings again in person in NYC, or remote on Zoom (etc). I will be offering services on a sliding scale basis because I know how expensive being alive is!

For my very first public solo in the third grade at Noyes Elementary School in Altadena, California I chose to sing “Send in the Clowns.” See the image. Let the reaction flow.

Thank you Stephen Sondheim for teaching us to be artists even as little kids. You taught me to love words, and that music can shape them for the better. Feeling so sad and so grateful at the loss of our musical theatre Shakespeare.

Selkies are shapeshifters who live in the water but have the ability to live on land as well should they be separated from their “skins”. It is said that their beauty is so captivating that mere mortals fall in love at first sight. Despite the ability to live on land, they carry the expansive greens and blues of the ocean inside of them always. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We adore animation(!): from hand drawn to claymation. We love it’s childlike sensibilities and how much one’s own imagination is recruited through the form. We came across collage animation and fell in love with it. The co-mingling of animated characters with real life inanimate heightens the emotional experience for us and allows the viewer to impose all kinds of experiences onto the images. In this collage animation, imagination and realism come together. This is a still from our music video created by the amazingly talented Lapo Tirelli and Bernardo Tirelli for our title track

The selkie – also called the seal people or seal folk– is a marine legend that tells of creatures who are half seal and half human.

Though many selkie stories begin with "once upon a time” almost all of the stories have a tragic ending. The folk-tales frequently revolve around female selkies being coerced into relationships with humans by someone stealing and hiding their sealskin.

We find this mythology so captivating that we decided to write a musical about it! Join us on this journey! 🦭✨

Orkney Islands: an archipelago in the Northern Isles of Scotland, situated off the northeast coast of the island of Great Britain. Considered to contain some of the oldest and best preserved Neolithic sites in Europe; the “Heart of Neolithic” - a group of 5,000 year old sites on Mainland - is a designated World Heritage Site. Orkney also boasts stunning and diverse marine and avian wildlife. Selkie tales first show up in this area; in fact, selkie is the Orcadian word for seal! Orcadian is the language spoken by the indigenous inhabitants of the Orkney Islands. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So what IS a selkie?

A selkie is a mythological creature that resembles a seal in the water but assumes human form on land.

The Selkie mythology can be found in both Celtic and Nordic folklore. These selkie tales first show up off the northeastern coast of Scotland in the Orkney Islands. While the selkie legend is one that Ireland and Scotland share, there are dozens of varieties and hundreds of stories. Many scholars believe that the legend of the selkie is Ireland’s concept of a mermaid.

Introducing Hiraeth: a new magic realism folk musical in development!

What is Hiraeth?

Hiraeth is a Welsh word and is defined as a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home that maybe never was. We fell in love with this word, and its significance, and felt it was the most perfect way to capture the essence of this story.
