"What happened to my roses???" I wept, seeing my withered rose bushes that were still blooming with life the night before.

I was furious. My heart was literally broken, and I knew whose fault it was. I remembered clearly my neighbor Abby's request to share the roses the day before... Gosh, how could she do that?! My hands were trembling. I was boiling with rage as I banged on Abby's door.

Moments later, Abby opened the door.

"HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO MY ROSES?" I yelled at her. "You better explain, or I'm calling the cops!"

"I-I didn't do it. Please trust me… I didn't do this," Abby pleaded. But I didn't hear a word. I was furious and unmoved. All I remember is me accusing Abby of destroying my garden, threatening her.

MY INEXPLICABLE STORY FROM THE NIGHT TRIP THAT WILL GIVE YOU GOOSEBUMPS.

So, it was that night, driving back from my in-laws' place with my wife, down this old, creepy forest road. We ended up in separate cars — me leading, and her following close behind.

This road? It's basically deserted. During the day, you might see a few cars here and there, mostly locals. But at night? Seeing anyone is like spotting a ghost.

We had about 20 miles left before hitting the main highway, and everything was cool until, out of nowhere, I see this old woman standing dead center in the road. She was wearing a black cloak, holding a basket.

I yanked the wheel hard, and my car went off the road into a ditch. Thankfully, I was okay. I jumped out of the car, and my wife was already running towards me.

"WHAT HAPPENED? DID YOU FALL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL?" she asked, panicked.

"THERE WAS A WOMAN! SHE WAS STANDING RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!" I shouted, looking back to where I saw her.

The background noise of sitcom laughter barely masked the solitude of my daily routine, marked by the loss of my wife seven years earlier in a car crash. I found solace in my job as a janitor and in raising my kids, whose presence brought me glimpses of the joy their mother once did.

One day, I was drawn to the window by a noise outside. I saw my elderly neighbor, Mrs. White, struggling with her lawnmower. Known for her independence despite her age, Mrs. White seemed to need help today.

Without hesitation, I approached her and offered my assistance. "Let me help you with that, Mrs. White," I said, taking over the stubborn machine. We worked silently together under the afternoon sun.

My dad was a ship doctor, and our relationship wasn’t your typical father-daughter thing, but I adored him. Every time he was home, I’d cling to him, desperate to soak up every moment. I'd been saving up for years to give my daughter, Jinny, the perfect day. I live in Australia, and due to some serious health issues, I couldn't make the trip to the USA for her wedding. Her future in-laws offered to handle everything, and I thought it was a blessing.

Boy, I was SO wrong.

On the day of the wedding, I was speechless when I saw the pictures. They had organized a cheap wedding in a shabby cafe with plastic tables. My beautiful daughter looked like a pauper in a tacky dress. It was nothing like what I had imagined or what I had paid for.

After having taken the money to use for the celebration, they did repairs on their home and renewed their car.
