Afghanistan News LIVE Updates: Days after taking control of Kabul following the hasty exit of president Ashraf Ghani, the Taliban held their first press conference on Tuesday. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said they have no ‘grudges’, adding that the rights of women will be respected as per the framework of Islamic law. Earlier in the day, the Taliban announced general amnesty for all Afghan government employees, including women, and asked them to return to work. Meanwhile, Russia has backed the Taliban regime, saying the situation in Kabul is ‘better’ under the Taliban than it was under the Ghani government.
