The high mountains of the Alps are at risk as developers encroach ever further in the name of expanding ski resorts and their infrastructure—all amidst palpable climate disaster. Vanishing Lines speaks for our surviving alpine spaces of quiet and ice, and the people who are demanding we ask: What’s a future without wild glaciers? And how many ski areas do we really need?

What a great time to be a splitboarder! The brand new Enfuse Shift bindings system is a minimalistic interface that is a solid option for those looking for a high quality piece of craftsmanship. Made from scratch by splitboarders in the Czech Republic, using Nitro Snowboards software (straps, ratchets and ladders), these bindings will definitely raise a few eyebrows on the skintrack.

At the end of March 21 we were back in the Pyrenees for the annual Splitboard Magazine test. After the rollercoaster of temperatures and snowfall our mountains had experienced last Winter, this time we had to move our test to the resort of Baqueira-Beret in the Aran Valley. We were about to start the test when an unexpected snowstorm provided the best conditions for epic splitboarding.

New descent on the Ecuadorian Andes for the splitboarders and . The team, led by UIAGM mountain guide , started the climb in the night of November 15th to reach the Nevado Cayambe, 5790m, by sunrise. It is the third highest summit in Ecuador, and it lays exactly on the center of the equator, at 0 degrees of latitude. Keep it up and best of luck in your next summit!

Ana Salvador is back with her project in Ecuador. The pyrenean rider just achieved a descent of the Cotopaxi volcano (5897m) on November 11th.

The Salomon Snowboards rider is joined by UIAGM mountain guide Jonathan Larragañaga, the swiss splitboarder Léa Klaue and Txema Trull as photographer. The team will spend the whole november in the country looking for high altitude riding missions.

We are used to travel in such fast rhythm that we almost forget to have a closer look at what is surrounding us. It’s possible to travel deeper, slower with an open mind. In the past two years we explored our home area/mountains deeper than before and we definitely found what we’ve been looking for: Enjoying the moment and feeling far away.”

Welcome Autumn! 🍂🍁

Autumn is here, and with its arrival comes the same feelings that I’ve been having for as long as I can remember: Summer is finally left behind, the leaves are starting to change, days are getting shorter and colder, the first snow on the highest summits, the crisp air in the mountains…There’s a feeling of happiness, joy and a certain anxiety along with the arrival of the first signs of Autumn.

Happy summer solstice! 🌞❄️
June 21st is always a special day, as it means that days are getting shorter and winter is on its way on the Northern Hemisphere, while our friends from the Southern Hemisphere usually kick off their season around this time of the year. It’s been a tough season for us, not only because climate change is making winters more and more unpredictable, but adding the whole uncertainty created by the covid-19, and on top of that, having to suffer the loss of some, maybe even too many, friends in the mountains. Either way, let’s celebrate that it’s always snowing somewhere, and never forget that splitboarding is the answer!

Switzerland faces a very important milestone on June 13th: voting the approval of the CO2 Law. This law will allow Switzerland to build on and reinforce its current climate policy, and it contains a range of measures that aim to further reduce CO2 output by 2030, continuing to rely on a combination of financial incentives, investments and new technologies.

We’re still in shock because of the sad news on Luca Pandolfi getting killed by an avalanche in Aosta Valley. Luca has been around the european splitboarding scene since the beginnings, he was already a legend 10 years ago when we interviewed him for Splitboard Magazine, our first ever interview. We looked at him like a source of inspiration then, and we’ll always do. Ride in peace, Luca 🖤
