New book alert! We’ve been working away on some really cool family recipe books (lots of recipes for us to drool over and cook from soon!)
This book by Jaya Mahajan @jayamahajan7 is a very special one. With stories from her many aunts, legendary family recipes and sweet handwritten notes, this book has hard to find Parsi recipes that we don’t often see in a recipe book.
One of our favorite things over here is to read the family stories, of connection and heritage, over food. And this book is a reminder of what a privilege it is to preserve those precious memories for families 🥰

We are overjoyed to share smelly lunchbox by Susanna Yu @smelly.lunchbox. This cookbook contains over 30 Chinese recipes and is a dedication to Susanna’s parents and their culinary legacy. In Suanna’s words:
“I’m so proud of the culture we come from, and want to preserve it through our family recipes, all in one place. I want to be able to share this with our family, relatives, friends, and most importantly, our future generations.”
This cookbook was designed with Heirloom’s Memoir layout with Susanna’s incredible photography in the interior. On the exterior we have a stunning linen cover with gold foil embossing on the spine and back.
Recipes range from mouthwatering steamed rice rolls with beef to pork & shrimp wonton noodle soup, taro cakes, and steamed thousand layer tapioca cake. Yum!

This recipe was submitted by a member of the Heirloom community - Farah. Farah’s creation is a quick-to-make, yet indulgent dessert that requires only a handful of ingredients. The luxurious pairing of dark chocolate and fruity olive oil makes this treat a perfect addition to any dinner party or gathering. For the finishing touch, don’t forget to garnish with orange zest and a pinch of flaky salt.
1 cup heavy cream
6 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
2 Tbsp olive oil
orange zest and flaky salt, to finish
- Heat the heavy cream in saucepan until just simmering.
- Place the chopped dark chocolate in a bowl and pour the hot cream over it.
- Allow the mixture to sit for a minute, then stir well until thoroughly combined.
- Add the olive oil and continue to mix until fully incorporated.
- Pour into 4 serving cups and let chill in the fridge for at least an hour to set.
- Garnish with orange zest and flaky salt before serving.

Sri recently spent some a couple days in Lucknow! The city’s rich food legacy, influenced by the Mughals and their appreciation for fine cuisine, is a true foodie destination. Awadh, the broader region, stands as a haven for kebabs and biryanis. The cuisine is characterized by intricate flavors, aromatic spices, and meat heavy dishes.
Here are some delicious spots Sri explored:
* Tunday Kebab: Home to legendary melt-in-the-mouth galouti kebabs and nihari.
* Shukla Chaat: The best chaat in Luknow! The large tawa is used to cook the most incredible aloo tikis, they also had a delicious seasonal chaat with peas.
* Oudhyana at The Taj Lucknow: Great for a more formal meal - standouts were the kareli, lamb calf and baadal-e-jaam, fried eggplants with saffron yogurt.
* Ram Asray: One of the oldest and best sweets shops with an amazing selection of mithai!
* Bajpayee Kachodi Bhandar: Unmissable khasta kachori, which are crispy puris stuffed with potato and masala.
* Makhan Malai: A winter specialty with whipped milk, cardamom, saffron, and dried fruit. This can be found in the Chowk neighborhood along with many local veggie stalls.
* Hazratganj: Another great area for indulging in delicious chaat and other street foods.
