Monarch Airlines, which collapsed in 2017, is set for a remarkable revival with new ownership and directors, with a new website and social media presence indicating a comeback is imminent.
The new Chairman of Monarch Airlines expressed excitement about leading the iconic brand into a new era and identified opportunities in the UK tourism sector that the revived company aims to fill.
While the demand for foreign travel remains high, the revived Monarch will face stiff competition and significant challenges to succeed, including differentiating itself from its predecessor and rebuilding customer trust.

UK IS FASTEST GROWING RECOVERY MARKET FOR JAMAICA

On the heels of the destination welcoming 2 million stopover arrivals last month, Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett has announced that the United Kingdom (UK), is the fastest growing recovery market for the island.

Speaking yesterday at the launch of the new advertising campaign dubbed ‘Come Back’, Minister Bartlett said the market was trending ahead of 2019 figures.

“In 2019, we did 225,000 visitors and right now we are trending to make in excess of 230,000 visitors and earn 326 million pounds. This means the market is set to earn ten percent more than 2019 when we earned 295 million pounds.

So, the UK market is good, and we are happy for that, and I would like to thank the team, lead by our Regional Director, Elizabeth Fox, for helping our recovery efforts greatly,” said Minister Bartlett.

Why Canada Should Be Your Next Winter Vacation Destination

Winter vacations are usually defined by two very different sets of rules: the first, a warm-weather vacation usually including a beach, a resort and some fruity adult beverages; and the second, a cold-weather destination filled with holiday magic and winter activities ranging from skiing to Christmas markets and more.

But with inflation on and the lingering uncertainty of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, some travelers might not want to fly as far as Europe this winter

This is exactly why they should consider Canada instead!

There are plenty of reasons why travelers should consider traveling to Canada this winter, but there are three in particular that I believe are the biggest: no pandemic-era entry restrictions, European-style winter wonderlands and easy connectivity with much of the United States.

Mourners hoping to travel to London to pay their respects to the Queen are being told to prepare for “unprecedented” demand on transport and in stations, with hundreds of thousands expected to make the trip.

As many as 750,000 people are expected to travel to the capital from Wednesday to pay respects to the late monarch as she lies in state for four days before her funeral on Monday. The public have been warned they may face 12-hour queues to see her coffin in Westminster Hall.

Network Rail, the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) and Transport for London (TfL) urged travellers to plan ahead and to expect crowded services and congested stations, adding that passengers should consider walking to their final destinations in the capital if possible.
TfL said not to drive in London if possible – and to avoid Green Park tube station altogether if travelling on public transport – with other stations including Westminster, Victoria, Waterloo, Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch also expected to be extremely busy.

“It is expected that we will see unprecedented travel demand in the capital, especially from Wednesday 14 September,” the three organisations said on Monday.

RDG, which represents all rail operators, said that on the day of the funeral it would not be possible to view the funeral in London and then travel to Windsor, where the Queen will be laid to rest.

“Understandably, many people wish to pay their respects to Her Majesty the Queen during this period of national mourning,” said Jason Webb, the customer information director at RDG. “On the day of the funeral, Monday 19 September, people should plan carefully the timing of their journey home, as trains and stations are likely to be extremely busy.”

PORTUGAL SEEKS TO ATTRACT DIGITAL NOMADS FROM THE UK

Portugal’s Cascais tourism board has launched a campaign encouraging British digital nomads to take a ‘workation’ in the destination.

With an estimated 35 million digital nomads worldwide (a two-fold increase over the last 24 months), searches for “digital nomad” have grown by 376 per cent over the last two years, according to Google Trends.

Recognising this trend, Cascais Tourism Board has launched a new campaign called “It Works for you” in partnership with DNA Cascais, inviting British digital nomads to swap their office desks at home for the Portuguese riviera.

With almost two-thirds of UK workers (62 per cent) considering moving abroad to work remotely, following the pandemic, the nomadic lifestyle is more appealing than ever before with British travellers seeking a more balanced lifestyle that combines work, travel and pleasure.

Dubai-based Emirates Airline is spending more than $2 billion to upgrade its fleet and boost inflight customer experience.

The huge outlay will fund the long-haul operator's retrofit programme that will cover more than 120 aircraft, as well as service improvements across all cabins starting this year, the carrier said on Wednesday.

"While others respond to pressures with cost cuts, Emirates is flying against the grain and investing to deliver ever better experience to our customers," said Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline.

Clark also said the airline is rolling out a series of "intensive programmes" to further improve inflight experience of passengers.

The initiatives, which include "cinema in the sky" experience and a brand-new vegan menu for passengers, are being rolled out this month.
