Indigenous policing is community policing.

That's one of the things Cpl. Tammy Dodginghorse told me during my ride long earlier this year.

Indigenous Police Services like the Tsuut'ina Nation Police Service play a crucial role in fostering trust and understanding within First Nations communities.

I was honoured to spend a day with officers and am proud to share what I learned.

As winter approaches, it's time to explore the slopes in a whole new way.

Is this the future of snow sports or just another fleeting fad?

Check it out in my quick dive into the wild world of skibiking!

Curious what the life of a Fire Lookout is like in Alberta, Canada?

Meet Shane Turner.
A musician and self-described introvert, Shane gives us a glimpse inside his summertime gig high in the Canadian Rockies.

And he did such a good job explaining, Alberta Wildfire used the video to show the public the vital work done by fire spotters.

For all your aviation fans ... or for those who enjoy a quirky story, here's a little piece I filmed / edited for CBC News awhile back.

If your organization or someone you know is looking for help with video storytelling/production, please feel free to reach out.

Wild horses have long been a presence in Alberta, western Canada. But many ranchers see them as nuisances and some want them off the land.

Wild Horses of Alberta Society, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to saving these animals and finding them new homes. They've joined forces with veterinary students from the University of Calgary to manage their populations.

Filmed and edited for CBC Calgary.

Phone snap from one of the best weeks of this past summer.

Each morning we paddled out 20 minutes to "Seal Island", home to bald eagles and seals. Each morning a fresh connection with Pachamama ... a chance to remember our true nature.

Funeral directors - or morticians, as they're sometimes called - always conjured up visions of creepy dudes wanting to upsell folks in the midst of their suffering.

But then came my first day filming with a group of young people studying to become funeral directors

Part therapist, part artist, part project manager - these university students changed my perspective on the industry 100%.

Take a look and see what you think. Could you do the job?

Great fun filming / editing this promo video for the CBC Calgary communications team for their first open mic night back in July.

Hopefully it encourages more people to get out and enjoy the musical talent this town has to offer ... and build a more vibrant community in the process.

How to make visual content (with a message) that gets seen?

Find interesting shots, ask your subject the right questions, and edit it in a way that makes the piece informative and entertaining.

This mini-doc I made for a local broadcaster has received tens of thousands of views. The owner loved it and is using it for his own marketing.

Know any entrepreneurs looking for video content / storytelling that stands out? Please send them my way.

Happy Cat-urday!

Meet Gary the Cat. He's an adventurous feline who loves to ski, hike and kayak in the Canadian Rockies.

I got to film with Gary and his media manager/owner James at one of the local ski hills a few weeks back. Now I understand why he's a social media star!

A bit of a tearjerker of a story I made about animal abuse ... but not to worry, there's a happy ending.

Did you know that:

1) animal abuse is a criminal offence in Canada?

2) forensic veterinarians are a thing. There's a handful in Canada ... and Gus the cat was lucky enough to be taken in by one of them.

Sandra Prusina grew up watching hockey.

She loved listening to Peter Maher doing play-by-play for her hometown team, the Calgary Flames. But though watching these games led her to a career in broadcasting, she never dreamt that one day be calling plays in Maher's booth at the Saddledome.

Now Sandra is the first female play-by-play in the American Hockey League, the feeder league for the NHL.

Her advice for young women and girls? If you can see it, you can be it.
