Issue Oct-Dec 2023

`What I learnt About Myself on ChatGPT' is a funny comic written and illustrated by comics artist Vishwajyoti Ghosh.

Vishwajyoti uses the medium of comics and graphic storytelling as an advocacy tool to communicate social and development issues across South Asia.
His graphic novel ‘Delhi Calm’ (2010) is about ‘The Emergency’ and brings together realistic comic passages with political commentaries and fantastical elements. In 2013, he curated ‘This Side That Side: Restorying Partition’, an anthology of graphic narratives by 48 illustrators and authors from South Asia. “This astounding collection of talent from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh examines the human need for something other than what history and its makers dictate,” praised US illustrator Joe Sacco, pioneer of modern comic reporting.
Besides being a political cartoonist and writing editorials on current issues, Ghosh is also an avid podcaster as a medium of storytelling with his popular podcast ‘Kissa Stories’, available across all major platforms.

Issue Oct-Dec 2023
Soham Dey and Stuti Mamen collaborated on the comic `Real Art'.

The writer of the story, Soham Dey, is a student of English, Creative Writing and Media Studies at Ashoka University. He hopes to make a career in storytelling in some form but is not sure how. He spends his time at university playing volleyball and reading manga. This is his first comic.

The artist, Stuti Mamen is a research scholar and a self-taught artist from Arunachal Pradesh. She worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, for eight years before resigning to recuperate and focus on her art practice. As an artist, she is passionate about exploring the intersections of social identity and mental health via the graphic storytelling format. The borderland – a space that is quite literally at the margins – is a recurring motif in her work.

Vatsala Chhibber and Annada Menon collaborated on the comic `Welcome to Imaginari'.

Vatsala Chhibber is a freelance writer. Her work has appeared in publications like ELLE India and Mint Lounge.

Annada Menon has done illustration work for Penguin Random House and Pratham Books, as well as for magazines such as Current Conservation and Cosmopolitan India. Whimsical with a hint of fantasy or surrealism is her most loved approach to illustration. Versatility is a common practice for her and she works towards understanding a wide range of themes and styles. She loves exploring the varied colour palettes by studying the glorious spectrum of nature. Animals – most importantly felines – have become a key element of her work. She is also an entomophile and feels one of her lucky charms is spotting a praying mantis in the wild.
