In the post-invasion city, after the EMP had wiped out all material possessions, Rufus Tibbs does what he does best and survives. Knowing that his chosen Syndicate family is looking at him as one head, to guide them in rebuilding what they had all lost. Each member, knowing that some difficult and less than savory work is ahead of them, all pledge to rebuild what the Syndicate had risen to.
The immense loss of wealth has led to tensions with Government Organizations and in particular Law Enforcement and the Southside Gangs. The streets are overrun with violence, and twitter is abounded with taunting and scarcely repressed rage. The smell of sulfur permeates the air, and the loud echoing of gunshots bounce off the rundown homes of Grove Street surrounding Rufus’ estranged grandson Jamal Tibbs, leaving a high-pitched ringing in his ears. Crouched down behind a burnt-out husk of a car, Jamal fires back at officers who have doggedly pursued him and his associates back to their stomping ground. He looks around his cover to fire another shot when he feels a force push him back. The explosion of a nearby vehicle, knocks Jamal and another three associates back onto the pavement with such force that Jamal’s head whips back slamming into the warm asphalt. The pain slowly creeps in held at bay from adrenaline, he struggles to keep his eyes open, slowly watching the world fade as he loses consciousness.
While just starting to pull back some of the pieces of what he had lost, Rufus receives a call that no one is ever ready for. The blood runs from his face, giving him an ashen coloring, and he feels his age in that moment when he is made aware that his grandson is fighting for his life in Pillbox Hospital after an altercation with the police. Dropping everything he is doing to run to his own flesh and bloods aid, silently hoping that it is not too late for reparations. Rufus arrives at the hospital just in time to make a promise to his grandson, which he had once been so close, to find the people responsible and vowed to destroy each and every one of them.
Rufus travels to visit his oldest son, Rufus Jr or RJ, in his grief and with the hopes of collecting his thoughts and creating a new plan. The members of SYN scatter around the globe, finding their own ways to deal with the devastation of losing a friend, and searching for new opportunities and contacts to call upon, quietly spreading the Syndicate network further than it has been before, trusting that Rufus and Bobo have a plan to rebuild and bring them all back. As Rufus elevates his mind to gain new perspective, a new plan forms. Just as the members of Syndicate had hoped for, he reaches out to them, calling them all to this new home for a High Table Meeting….
