The NFT Asia Podcast (Live Taping): Carrie Kaplan
My next guest is LA artist Carrie Kaplan. She sees every moment as an opportunity to create something exciting. Be it an interaction with someone, a place, or an idea. A lot of the time these moments flesh themselves out in her eclectic paintings and artwork. Creating with no preconceived image in mind, but instead she follows her instinct, channeling the energy and allows the paint to guide her to discover the unfolding art piece. For her it is always more interesting to work with the ''unknown'' and let in the opportunity for something spontaneous to create new and unique images for her eyes. Sometimes finished pieces do not quite have the clarity of meaning at the time, but does so at a later date. Or another person will see it and resonate with it, sharing back the clear meaning that person feels from her work.
Working with nontraditional materials throughout her B.F.A with Honors degree at the University of Manitoba , and while doing her thesis is what brought her artistic attention for innovation. She was not interested in painting on canvas with paint at this time, for example she was using candy and dried fruit to make a life size "Edible Woman" or scraps of metal, and bones in sculpture. Or her infamous thesis exhibit " Beauty Marks ", which included her "Chicken Jacket" , a life size biker's jacket made of chicken skin, sewn in zippers and insulated inside with human hair encased in plexi-glass, long before Lady Gaga's meat dress or Damien Hirst's fame. It was the ''find'' of material that was exciting for her. To use what she happened to come across, and then create with that . She recogized what power and value the inspired moment offers, which ultimately transforms itself into inspired action and then manifests itself in wonderous ways.
Most recently she has delved into the new renaissance in art. The NFT Vortex. This is an exciting and limitless way to express creativity. Her exploration begins by creating a hybrid of organic and digital art. Sh
Bucket List Band Podcast (Live Taping) - Remembering Chris Ho, Singapore's John Peel
Thank you Chris Ho for inspiring me to start Bucket List Bands Podcast https://linktr.ee/Podfestasia I listened to your show 8 Miles High during my growing up years and subscribed to cable radio Rediffusion as my mom was a seamstress and she made clothes for her clients while listening to Rediffusion, and I always turned the dial to the English Channel and you were always on. You were Singapore’s #JohnPeel, and will play all these progressive punk rock music and spotlight local Singaporean bands as well as consistently champion acts like Napalm Death and other Grindcore / Death Metal bands, REM, Sonic Youth, Einstürzende Neubauten., Nine Inch Nails and Industrial music, as well as controversial Hip Hop acts like NWA and introduce future music from Kruder and Dorfmeister to IDM like Aphex Twin and Autechre (æ). My dream was to interview you and recount the story of your meeting with industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle and Genesis P.Orridge……I’m kicking myself that I will never get the chance to live tape this episode with you #RestInPower #ChrisHo

We are back with more PodFest Asia: Metaverse!
My next guest, Jake Steinerman, Head of Community from Spatial, and I have been speaking a little while on our discord server 👉 bit.ly/podfestasia and we’ll be using our new Metaverse-themed show to dive in on some new features he and his team have been working extremely hard on. But for for those in our community who don't know what Spatial.io is, I have decided to invite him to come on the festival and live podcast to give them some insight and explain immersive AR/ VR tech and #everything #Metaverse
You have already seen a preview of the avatar (or digital twin which I posted on socials a week ago) that will replace me - it is eerily photorealistc and real, people loved it so far! I will get to ask Jake whether:
🪐The pandemic aided in AR/ VR progression, how is his team able to help companies pivot during these unpredictable but also exciting times especially in the AR/ VR space?
🪐Occulus Quest 2 changed the way in how people see each other after Zoom fatigue, are these things in metaverse going to persist especially with NFT and AR/ VR converging?
🪐How did spatial go into NFT integration space? Was it due to NFT artists flooding the space to create immersive galleries vs staring at 2d digital art
🪐Tell us about your Metamask integration, how with a few click anyone can place their NFT art?
🪐What is it like in the web version?
🪐What they are doing in and for the NFT community and upcoming collaborations?
🪐Does disorientation ever go away for someone who spends so much time in VR?
🪐How do viewers bid the NFT pieces seen in a VR gallery?
🪐Do they take commissions or sell virtual land?
🪐VR first companies vs Zoom first companies - why the former boasts benefits of having VR headquarters, keeping clients and remote employees engaged
🪐What is a mixed reality experience (or AR mode on mobile app to display all my collectibles in my metamask wallet, walking up your instant physical
