In 2018, the Facebook group “subtle asian traits” became one of the biggest Asian diasporic online community spaces overnight, where members shared memes about their experiences growing up Asian. As the group grew, however, its issues became apparent, such as a lack of representation for South Asians and the avoidance of important political issues. Madison, a longtime SAT member, reflects on what she’s seen in the group over the past three years.
