Kids are sadly back at school and the North sea is providing some welcome relief from this heat. I've been in every day this week 😉

I've got a few weekends and the odd week free in the Threshing barn coming up if you fancy a trip to the Norfolk Coast this September.

Very excited to report that I have had the most amazing email from the Museum of London today, confirming that they have the Gorton chemist trade sign from my ancestor’s shop (featured in this photo) in their collections. They have also provided a huge amount of helpful information about the sign & the shop. So brilliant to have finally tracked it down.

A little bit of family history. This is my ancestors’ chemist shop: ‘Gorton & Sons’ on Whitechapel High Street. The photo was taken in 1901 and also features ‘Taylor & Tasty’ and the old Aldgate East station. Some years ago the Gorton sun trade sign emerged briefly at an exhibition in a London museum but I’d love to know what happened to it after that. These days, the site houses a massive tower block of student housing.
