TRAGEDY STRIKES PARADISE IN GEORGIA

The death toll from a landslide that hit a resort area in the mountains of the country of Georgia increased to 17, officials and news reports said Saturday, on the third day of a search and rescue operation.

The landslide hit the Shovi area on Thursday, August 3, 2023. Shovi, about 140 kilometers (85 miles) northwest of the capital Tbilisi, is popular for its mineral springs and rugged mountain vistas and contains cottages and small hotels.

The head of the Georgian Internal Affairs Ministry’s Emergency Management Service, Temur Mgebrishvili, confirmed the death of 17 people and noted that 18 people were still unaccounted for. | via AP (SunStar Cebu)

Gin-aprubahan na ni Pres. Ferdinand Marcos ang dugang nga P8.48 billion nga pondo para sa construction sang the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project Stage II (JRMP II).

Kasunod ini sang pagpabor sang presidente bilang chairman sang National Economic and Development Administration (NEDA) Board sang loan restructuring para sa JRMP II.

Suno kay National Irrigation Administration (NIA) spokesperson Steve Cordero ang dugang nga pondo tuga sang inflation, delay sa implementasyon sang proyekto, mga proseso kag iban pa nga requirements.

PUBLIC ADVISORY 📢
SUSPENSION OF CLASSES IN ALL LEVELS IN ILOILO CITY, JULY 17, 2023

I approve the recommendation of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for the suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels in both public and private educational institutions in the City of Iloilo to ensure the safety and general welfare of the children and the residents.

City hall flag ceremony is cancelled; and the use of biometrics is waived in consideration of those city gov't employees affected by the flooding in different areas within the city.

As per the Emergency Operations Center, based on available data and observation, we will continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms tomorrow, Monday, July 17, 2023. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm TALIM (Formerly DODONG), there is up to 35% chance of a 10-20mm rainfall accumulation for tomorrow, and a 7% chance of rainfall above 25 mm. As of 6:00 PM, the Operations Center recorded a total of 20 flooded barangays in the City. The Barangay DRRM Committees and general public are advised to heed the risks posed by the continuous flooding in low lying areas such leptospirosis, acute gastro-enteritis, and contamination of deep wells among others.
