“Support your wife during her pregnancy” doesn’t have to be some vague term open to interpretation.
For example: as we’re all too keenly aware, that back/hip pain gets REAL. As the husband/bf/baby daddy/birthing partner, sometimes your job can be padding the floor, finding supportive pillows, giving massages, and making an ice pack. (Yes, apparently this was her most comfortable position…)
Welcome to our living room/birthing space. YES it’s basically an adult playground. YES that’s a pole (AKA vertical labor assist bar). More to come on how we landed in Chicago and made our temporary home exactly what WE wanted it to be. ;)

When that 3rd trimester exhaustion hits…you pivot.
For us, that means finding a project to do together that doesn’t involve frolicking around the world, driving across the country, or even walking all over our new city.
Instead, we found a nearby coffee shop for a change of scenery.

Grateful for the warm welcome from our Dutch cowboy family 🤠. It took 2 days of thrift shopping + the kindness of the match director to allow footwear exceptions for swollen pregnant feet + a village of cowboys and cowgirls who lent us their guns & gear for us to be able to participate in “Cowboys and Windmills” the Dutch National Championships for cowboy action shooting this year. What an absolute treat!
Poppyseed is definitely bigger than a poppyseed now. Don’t worry, we didn’t feed her to Nessie.
The first time we were in Copenhagen, we said “no thank you” to the rain and escaped to Greece. Wonder what adventures will manifest this time? Can you guess what shenanigans we’re cooking up? (There’s a hint in this post 😉)

What we’ve noticed about Denmark 🇩🇰:
1: The food is delicious, and it’s good for you. Did you know it’s actually easier to eat healthy here? Thanks to the friendliest waiters at we learned that it’s easier (and more affordable) to procure organic produce, AND there’s a sugar and butter tax. Smart, eh?
2: The people are friendly. We’re grateful that everyone we’ve encountered so far has spoken English, and they’ve been receptive to answering our 1000000 questions about Denmark.
3: Being active is a lifestyle. It’s more common to walk, bike, or take public transportation here than it is to drive. The streets of Aalborg have been safe to walk on, even at 2 in the morning, when many parties are just getting started, but ours tumbles back to bed 🛌
Shanon also found her dream apartment and Matthew fell in love with the food… it’ll be hard to leave 😢 Not to mention, we got to see last night!

“Getting creative” sometimes means “busting out the windows of your comfort zone and doing something utterly terrifying”. Is is only then that you’ll find out what you’re truly capable of.
How did we get here?
1 - Shanon walked into on a whim after working with .stewart.fitness throughout COVID and realized she had upper body strength for the first time in her life
2 - Shanon discovered “pole therapy” as a way to work out, re-connect with her body, and find a low-impact way to keep dancing after a car wreck that took away kickline a and jump-splits
3 - S*M transformed their master suite into a pole studio ( ) and Matthew being the monkey that he is spent more time using it than Shanon did
4 - Shanon took Matthew to a pole competition (because what guy would say no to that?!) and they saw their first “pole doubles” routine
5 - Matthew wanted in on the fun and signed them both up for private lessons
6 - By doing this, we not only realized what we could accomplish together (this was only our 3rd class), but we’ve met badass entrepreneurs, moms and business owners along the way who encouraged us to chase our dreams and go on a radical sabbatical ❤️ Thanks !
