This weekend, I had to go to a salon but because I also had to look after the kids, I called Salon at the door. Their girl arrived (a little late but that’s okay) with all the products and equipments. I got my waxing, manicure, pedicure, cleansing and also blowdry done from her. My overall experience was good. The whole idea of getting services at home is so convenient specially for homemakers who have to look after the whole house.

Today, I went to office after 3 months of maternity leave. “Where did you leave Arhaan?”, a lot of you asked.

Well, I took him with me to the office. I was a little unsure about the decision because since I had joined public service, I hadn’t seen any woman bring her kid to office. I didn’t know how my colleagues would react, I didn’t even know if my boss would allow it but I took the leap of faith and did it anyway.
And here’s what happened…

When I entered my boss’s office and told him I’ll be bringing my baby along, he said “oh your baby is more than welcome”. Our HR person even offered a cot permanently set up in my office. Another colleague went on to say that we should set up a day care in one of the rooms so he could also bring his twins.
I was so relieved because it was only this morning when I was being anxious about taking Arhaan along. But now I think all that was needed was someone to take the first step. We may be on to bringing a little change in sarkaari offices.

Reminder for all the moms out there to take time out for themselves. You gotta be contented yourself to keep your kids happy and contented. As they say in airplanes, wear your own oxygen mask before putting it on to your child. If you won live, you can’t make others live. Same way, if you aren’t happy, how would you ever make your kids happy?
