Many people have asked me what has gone wrong with Sagani TV. In fact, initially I didn't know, neither did anyone in my team (My Northern Achiever on Sagani TV). Even when the station went off, Musah Abdul Latif who is my executive producer came out and was shaking his dish just to get Sagani TV back.

For this lack of information, the station stands to be criticized. It was a very big goof and that will in one way or the other cost the station a lot of viewers and even some sponsors and/or advertisers. Sad as it is, it's the fact on the ground.

However, Sagani TV have tried to do some damage control. They have since apologised and taken steps to explain to the general public their intent. In fact, they have even deployed some installers to a number of villages to help restore the station to a lot of people. But is that enough?

My worry however is how some people have taken the whole issue too far. Even if Sagani TV cannot pay the bills of Multi TV but can afford to pay for another so what? Mind you, I'm not saying that's the case. My worry is how some of we Northerners love to see the downfall of our very own. Sagani TV goofed big time for not preinforming their viewers. That's disrespectful to the former. You can criticize them on that score. But these kind of presumptions only show how wicked some Northern folks can be and it is simply unfortunate! We must learn to help each other grow.

My advise if Sagani TV will hear me out is that they are still a very young TV station. Sagani in three years have done what others all over the country could not do in even ten years. That should not make them feel complacent. They should build their grassroots fan base vehemently before thinking of going global. TV3, Joy News, GHOne and the others who are on Multi TV, Eutelsat, DSTV, StarTimes and other platforms didn't get there in a hurry. We can get there together in time with hard work and determination.

I don't think people would complain if Sagani went global and still stayed on Multi TV. But it's not feasible because the same Northerners the station stands for do not see the need to sponsor their programs so as to help the station grow. So the station will only be running at loss if they are on both platforms. As I add my voice to petition management of Sagani TV to please revert to Multi TV as a matter of urgency, I humbly advise the nay sayers to shut up!

If you really love to see the north grow and can afford an extra LNB and installation fee, please don't hesitate to do so. Let's be passionate about seeing our very own establishments grow. How many TV stations do we have in the north? Imagine if one is subtracted from the already very few. As we push them to get back on the local platform, please pardon them and let your patriotism override their huge mistake 🙏🏼

The north is said to be lurking about a century behind southern Ghana in terms of education and development. In fact, the north got their first graduate about 100 years after the south had theirs. There is a history behind that but, that will be a discussion for another day.

Several governments from Dr Nkrumah to Lawyer Akuffo Addo have done their bits in trying to bridge this huge development gap. These measures got a lot more prominence in the 2008 elections campaign when both NPP and NDC promised to give the north a development authority that will spearhead the acceleration of development of the area to catch up with the rest of the country.

After the elections, the NDC won and true to their words they established SADA. Even before they named directors and CEO, Northerners were already calling for their own to be at the realm of affairs which was granted. It came with its own issues and many were those who felt disappointed in how things went.

Fast forward the NPP won 2016 and renamed it to NDA. They said a lot about how their predecessors mismanaged the authority and that theirs will be different. This gave some people hope but, that hope wad to be short-lived.

Don't get me wrong, both SADA and NDA have chalked some successes for which they deserve commendation. However, they could have done a lot better than they have done and/or are doing.

My concern and what should be of interest to every northern youth is how motortricycles bought with the taxpayer's money to alleviate poverty vanished from the warehouse and/or premises of the authority. These were things bought to be distributed on credit basis to people to serve as a source of income. But for some political reasons, these motortricycles were stoped from being distributed to beneficiaries.

The issues surrounding the stopping of the distribution are so absurd that it looks like though there are no laws in this part of the world. Well, two years later, these motortricycles started depleting or had almost depleted and was sold on auction at unbelievable low rates. That alone was causing financial loss to the state. As if that was not enough, about 400 or so of the price slashed tricycles, as some would say, "developed wings" and flew away.

The painful thing is that, they are usually quick to let the police make some arrests to shut the public up and the wrong doers never are found talkless of being punished. And the unfortunate thing is that it is the same Northerners that this authority is there to help who are looting and sharing the goodies to the neglect of the development of the area.

Shouldn't we be teaming up to ask the relevant questions of who took these motortricycles and what has happened to them? Is there a case about it in court? If yes, where has it reached and why is it taking far too long to conclude? What measures are we taking as youth of the north to police these things in order to stop similar situation(s) in future?

Arise Ghana youth for your country! The time is now to take our destiny into our own hands. Please do have your say 🙏🏼
