📜HISTORY Lesson: As discussed last night on Show 104: Carry with State Representative Danny McCormick and Senator Blake Miguez - what Act 1 of 2024 has done is nothing short of EXTRAORDINARY. It has REMOVED RESTRICTIONS (unconstitutional we would argue) placed upon Louisiana citizens from all the way back in 1813 (as did Kentucky). 😳

--1813 La. Acts 172, An Act Against Carrying Concealed Weapons, and Going Armed in Public Places in an Unneccessary Manner, § 1.--

Whereas assassination and attempts to commit the same, have of late been of such frequent occurrence as to become a subject of serious alarm to the peaceable and well disposed inhabitants of this state; and whereas the same is in a great measure to be attributed, to the dangerous and wicked practice of carrying about in public places concealed and deadly weapons, or going to the same armed in an unnecessary manner, therefore;

Be it enacted by the senate and house of representatives of the state of Louisiana, in general assembly convened, That from and after the passage of this act, any person who shall be found with any concealed weapon, such as a dirk, dagger, knife, pistol, or any other deadly weapon concealed in his bosom, coat, or in any other place about him that do not appear in full open view, any person so offending, shall on conviction thereof before any justice of the peace, be subject to pay a fine . . .

"...Citizen observers can also take pictures and/or record the actions of the employees and those delivering absentee ballots..."

Following up with our interview of John Nickelson and the contested Caddo Sheriff's Race - read this article.

YES. The Registrar of Voters Office is a public office. Thus, citizens can enter the office and observe the actions of citizens bringing in absentee ballots and the actions of registrar employees receiving the ballots. The Registrar has a form that is to be completed by persons who deliver absent

This is an INTERESTING turn of events, and credit to Jim Taliaferro for Mayor campaign for realizing that potentially splitting the vote is not the best thing for Shreveport's problems.

Way to stay on em Doug Warner KSLA! Deleting comments is a no-no by public officials.

CADDA PARISH DA PAGE DELETED? Following a Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office Facebook post on Monday that led to a brief exchange between their social media person and myself, and ended with the DA’s office deleting and then “limiting” public comments, as of 6pm Tuesday the page could no longer be found.

After a public records request, the DA’s office informed me today Chief Deputy District Attorney Wilbert Pryor “handles the social media accounts” for the Caddo DA’s office. Their post on Monday morning attempted to call into question my Friday investigation report on Elijah Williams, his criminal history, and it’s legal handling.

Charges of kidnapping and aggravated battery from a 2021 incident were dismissed in a plea deal that allowed Williams to pay a $100 fine and his sentence suspended. The victim of his 2021 attack claims the DA’s office never clearly communicated to her that the charges were dismissed. The DA’s office denies that claim, stating the victim was on board with their decision.

Williams and a man named Thomas Office are accused in the April 30th shooting death of 28 year old Jared Pelletier. I asked the DA’s office for clarification on Williams criminal history. Williams skipped out on an April 4th hearing connected to his 2021 charges and a bench warrant was issued. On April 12th he was apprehended by Shreveport police after running through the Broadmoor neighborhood to escape a hit and run, yet the bench warrant nor the fact he was on probation was apparently noted.

The DA’s office told me, not knowing all the details of his apprehension on April 12th, only city court can answer why the bench warrant wasn’t acted on. And as far as being on probation, the DA’s office says LA Dept of Probation and Parole didn’t file proper paperwork to begin a revocation process.

Today, the DA’s office confirmed that a probation revocation warrant was file yesterday, May 9th. Meanwhile, Williams and Office are still at large. Office is wanted for first degree murder and Williams principal to first degree murder.
