මැයි දිනය
සමස්ත ලෝකයේම කම්කරු ප්‍රජාව සමරනු ලබන කම්කරු දිනය අදට මැයි (01) යෙදී ඇත.

ධනේෂ්වර පංතියට එරෙහිව කම්කරු පිරිසක් පැය 8කට තම වැඩමුරය සීමා කරන ලෙස ඉල්ලමින් 1886 වසරෙදි චිකාගෝ නුවරට එක්වූහ. මෙම වැඩවර්ජනයේ දී කම්කරුවන් 6 දෙනෙකු මියගියඅතර තවත් කම්කරු නායකයින් අත්අඩංගුවට පත් විය.

මෙම අරගලයේදී පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් කිහිප දෙනෙකු ද මිය ගියහ. එම කම්කරු අරගලයේ කම්කරු අයිතීන් වෙනුවෙන් රුධිරය වැගිරූ තම සගයින් සාදාතනිකව සිහිකිරීමට 1889 වසරේ රැස්වූ ජාත්‍යන්තර කම්කරු සංවිධානය තීරණය කළේය. ඒ අනුව සෑම වසරක මැයි 01 වැනි දා ජාත්‍යන්තර කම්කරු දිනය ලෙස ප්‍ර‍කාශයට පත්විය.

ලංකාවේ ප්‍රථම වරට කම්කරු දිනය සැමරුවේ 1927 වසරේය. ලංකා ඉතිහාසයේ පළමු මැයි රැළිය 1933 කොළඹ ප්‍රයිස් පිටියෙන් ආරම්භ වී ගාලු මුවදොර පිටියෙන් අවසන් විය. 1956දී මැයි දිනය මෙරට නිවාඩු දිනයක් ලෙස නම්
කර තිබේ.

I am srilankan. We don't need indirect taxes any more. If you restore our economy please impose direct taxes. Because poor people are in very hungry. Food & Fuel cost is too high. Our politicians impose indirect taxes day by day. They didn't try to increase direct taxes to their wealthy corrupted people yet. politicians provide to tax releases for wealthy corrupted people yet. Wealthy corrupted people have media,high profitable businesses, money and everything. In our country indirect taxes are more thane 90%. Please help us.
