India was among a number of countries using an Israeli company's spyware in attempted and successful hacks of smartphones belonging to journalists, government officials and human rights activists around the world. At least one number once used by Prime Minister Imran Khan was on the India list, according to an investigation by 17 media organisations published on Sunday.

The extent of the spyware – Pegasus – use was reported by The Washington Post, the Guardian, Le Monde and other news outlets who collaborated on an investigation into a data leak.

According to The Post, more than 1,000 phone numbers in India appeared on the surveillance list while hundreds were from Pakistan, including the one PM Imran once used. However, The Post did not specify whether the surveillance attempt on PM Imran's number was successful.

Indian investigative news website The Wire reported that 300 mobile phone numbers used in India — including those of government ministers, opposition politicians, journalists, scientists and rights activists — were on the list.

يقين ڄاڻو اڄ به هزارين قرتلعينون گهريلو تشدد ۽بربريت جو شڪار آھن, جيڪي خاموشي, ڪمپرومائيز ۽ والدين جي عزت خاطر درندن جو عذاب ڀوڳي رهيون آهن,
اهو سڀ ڪجھ صنفي اڻبرابري جي ڪري ٿئي ٿو ۽ ھن اڻبرابري جو شڪار ھميشه عورت ئي رھي آھي ـ بدنصيبي سان اسان وٽ زال ۽ مڙس جو رشتو حاڪم ۽ محڪوم وارو آھي, مڙس کي جيڪو وڻي زال سان سلوڪ ڪري ڇو تہ ھو مرد آھي ۽ حاڪم آھي, عورت کي پنھنجي ملڪيت سمجھندو آھي انسان نہ ـ عورت جي شخصي آزادي ھن مرد لا۽ وڏي گار ھوندي آ ۽ ٻيو تہ اسان جي ھن معاشري ۾ ڌار ٿيڻ ( طلاق ) وڏو ڏوھ آھي جنھن جو ذميدار بہ عورت کي ئي قرار ڏنو ويندو آ ۽ اھو چيو ويندو آ ته مائي ۾ لڇڻ ڪون ھئا جو مڙس کي ھلائي نہ سگھي ـ طلاق ٻن فردن جي وچ ۾ ٿيندي آ پر ان يڪ طرفا الزام ۽ مائٽن جي طرفان سپورٽ نه ھجڻ جي ڪري عورت ويچاري اھا زندگي گھارڻ تي مجبور ھوندي آ جيڪا ھن ڪڏھن بہ اللّه کان نه گھري ھئي ـ مڙس طرفان قتل ٿيل قرتلعين اسان جي معاشري جي بربريت ۽ حاڪميت جو ھڪ عڪس آھي, اھڙيون ڪيتريون ئي عورتون روز ڪسجن ٿيون ـ پر جڏھن بہ عورت جي حقن جي ڳالھ ڪبي تہ اھو ٻڌڻ ۾ ايندو تہ اڃان توھان کي ڪھڙا حق کپن ـ
ھن پدرشاھي سماج جو خاتمو ئي ھن مسئلي جو واحد حل آ ـ نه ته ھي قتل هر روز ٿيندا رھندا ـ ايف آئي آر به ڪٽبي ـ ڪجھ ڏينھن جيل ۾ رھي قاتل رشوت ڏئي آزاد ۽ وري ڪا ٻي نياڻي ڪُسبي.
