With the festive season upon us, the December issue is an ode to the tables we share, the locals who shape our community, and the nostalgia we relish in during this time of the year.

Inside the issue, Ralph and Laura Lewis, the third-generation owners of Okeechobee Steakhouse, host a dinner with friends to celebrate the past while looking forward to a bright future. For the Lewises, and the other food-industry trailblazers at that table, breaking bread together is an intimate way to forge relationships.

This theme of nostalgia carries through in our fashion editorial. Our model, with a couple of local “extras” you’ll surely recognize, showcases festive holiday fashion in the most unlikely of places: the aisles of Green’s Pharmacy and Luncheonette.

The notion of community—standing together in good times and bad, and supporting those among us who need a little extra help—is front and center in Palm Beach. With season and the holidays fast approaching, this issue is devoted to bolstering community and the people who make it happen, including cover star Amy Baier, who recently moved to Palm Beach and is already making waves on the charity circuit.

Amy’s philosophy on giving back is simple: where she sees a need, she aims to fill it. And she does it all with grace, kindness, and, yes, style.

Read on about Amy and other locals with hearts for giving in the November issue.

On a fundamental level, home serves as a sanctuary where we are free to be ourselves, to love, and to dream.

In Palm Beach, of course, the concept of home as sanctuary is elevated to high art. In the October issue, we visit homes that are sure to provide inspiration for everything from setting the table to turning functional spaces into showcases.

Take cover subjects Matt Holland and Bryan Walsh, who invited us inside their newly remodeled West Palm Beach penthouse to tour the breathtaking space and enviable contemporary art collection. Admire the works, learn about Bryan and Matt’s collecting process, and uncover all that the October Home issue has to offer.

Experiencing Japanese culture and its centuries-old traditions for finding harmony and balance are especially vital in today’s busy world, says Wendy Lo, curator of education at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach.

We visited with Lo to learn more about the Morikami’s programs (like this weekend's Introduction to the Art of Kintsugi, Koto Workshop [pictured], and Sado: Tea Ceremony Workshop): https://www.palmbeachillustrated.com/qa-with-morikamis-wendy-lo/

Sandy beaches, coastal wetlands, and swampy marshes make up the diverse South Florida terrain. Our backyard is the perfect home for a treasure trove of exotic fruits and plants, like the luscious guava, tart hog plum, wholesome Seminole pumpkin, tangy sea grape, creamy Florida avocado, and striking beauty berry.

In the August issue, we celebrate the Sunshine State’s vibrant flora with recipes that spotlight these unique ingredients:

This spring, Florie’s chef and July cover star Mauro Colagreco () channeled his Argentine roots to orchestrate Palm Beach’s first seaside asado, lighting up the beach at the Four Seasons. Complete with a custom parrilla, enough meat to feed a village, four cords of wood for the 10-hour fire, and an events team flown in from Mauro’s restaurant in France, the evening was one for the books.

Peek behind the scenes of the Palm Beach feast in the July issue and learn more about the chef and his creative process. Plus, plan your next hometown adventure with a roundup of local staycations, as well as a Florida distilleries road trip.

Happy summer!
