Just a reminder, we have a new Alexa skill that now features HD audio. Tell Alexa to turn off the Radiobrent skill. Then tell Alexa to turn on the RadioBrent skill. Hopefully it will update to the new HD skill. Both are still available as they will not remove the old one. If you go the skill store and search Radiobrent, it will be the second skill in the list. When you say Alexa Open RadioBrent, Alexa should say "welcome to Radiobrent" if it's the new version. If you hear the music for Hippies open, that's the older original version. Good Luck! Still learning how to update my Alexa skill. I checked the usage pages and looks like I'm the only one listening to the new HD feed on Alexa. Apparently you have to update the skill on your device. Remove the current Radio Brent skill and add the new one in the Alexa Skill store. This will upgrade your audio from standard definition to High Definition. You will know you have the new skill when Alexa says "Welcome to Radio Brent". The invocation hasn't changed, it's still Alexa, play Radio Brent. Or Open Radio Brent. I've had the old skill since 2019, and have never gone through an update. It's a learning experience. Sorry for any confusion. 🙂

Greetings! If you listen to RadioBrent on Alexa smart speakers we are in the process of making a change for our Alexa listeners. We've changed the audio feed to our HD stream, which will provide you with higher quality audio. The new skill is being reviewed right now by Alexa, and a request to remove the old skill has been submitted. So it's possible you may have an issue activating our Alexa stream today, hopefully by Friday afternoon all should be good. Thank you for your patience, and for listening to RadioBrent!

A big thank you for your support of RadioBrent. Now that we’re broadcasting from the cloud our past issues are no more. That’s the way I like it!

I’m still seeing a good number of listeners use our original App. It still works fine, but the new version that came out in July boasts High Definition audio. If the top of your screen doesn’t say RadioBrent HD, you are still on the older app. Just go to your phone store, search RadioBrent, click on the app and update. Enjoy!

It's Woodstock's 55th Anniversary this year. RadioBrent will playback the 6 CD Set Woodstock 40 Years On - Back To Yasgur's Farm in its entirety starting Friday August 16th at Noon. Hear it commercial free on RadioBrent, will run just over 6 hours.

The Flower Power Hour next weekend will also feature music from Woodstock and conversation with Artie Kornfeld, who along with the late Michael Lang came up with the idea for Woodstock and made it happen.

Are you still using the original RadioBrent app? Many people are, the new app released last week features HD audio. it's FREE. Just go to your phone store and search Radiobrent, then click on it. The latest version of the RadioBrent app is now available in iOS App Store. Now steaming in HD. Go to your phone store, search RadioBrent. Then click on the app, then click the update button. You will then get the latest version in HD just released minutes ago. New Android app coming soon.

I have learned the HD stream will not play on a chrome browser, as it doesn’t support AAC+. I will be installing an embedded player just for chrome browser users this afternoon. Just an fyi.

We're up on our new server now thanks to Database Mart. The bandwidth is huge and the server is fast. The whole library loaded in 4 hours. Keep in mind with a new installation there may be some bugs to work out, probably more behind the scenes.

Thank you so much for your patience! I think I have eliminated many obstacles as all I'm responsible for is what comes out of your speakers now. We have also added an HD channel, the one you have been hearing is Standard Definition. Probably be a while before I can add the HD to the app, quite an expense. There's will be a link on the RadioBrent.com website which won't be active until later today.

Quick update. The VPS didn't work as the connection was so slow in a day and a half I'd only been able to upload about 75% of the library. A VPS server is shared with others, so your bandwidth varies. Today I switched to a dedicated server, and it is sweet. You login and it's like you are in front of the computer with the familiar Windows desktop. So right now I'm uploading the library, which should not take more than 5 or 6 hours because the transfer speed is now lightning fast. It will probably be Thursday midday before I move to the new platform. Meanwhile this evening it appears Metronet is settling down as the stream has been steady for last 3 hours.. Update tomorrow.

Greetings! Here's a Radiobrent update.

Very sorry for the up and downs my stream has been experiencing the past couple days. My main server runs on Metronet, very fast but not suitable for streams, as they drop in and out a lot. The last two days have been brutal. I'm at the point where I'm going to toss the PC's. I've purchased a VPS (virtual private server) operated by a big provider, so I will no longer have to worry about computers or Internet providers. They provide all of that with a Windows 22 Server. I'm in the process of uploading my library of about 2500 songs, which is a slow process, as they are all wav files therefore large. I'm hoping sometime tomorrow to transition to the new system and my hope is to never hear RadioBrent is down on my stream again.

I will also be adding a High Definition channel, the current Standard Definition stream will always be available as well.

Thank you all for your support, and patience with this venture. I just want to have fun and play lots of music, and not fight with computers anymore!

If you happen to be listening to RadioBrent right now, you're hearing side one of Steely Dan's Aja. I have a huge collection of albums all digitized that I created for a feature I do on our local Classic Rock station weekly. So why not share that you as well. We'll have random "Sideshows" of album sides now on RadioBrent. Since I'm fully retired from full time work, I have more time to spend on the stream. Thanks for listening and all of the positive comments I'm getting. It's a labor of love, and it will be around as long as I am.
