HON. DONALD OKOGBE TO SPONSOR FREE JAMB FORMS FOR 200 INDIGENT STUDENTS IN AKOKO-EDO II CONSTITUENCY

As part of his commitment to promoting education and empowering the youth, the Honorable Member representing Akoko-Edo II Constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Donald Okogbe, has announced the sponsorship of free JAMB forms for 200 eligible indigent students in the ongoing 2025 UTME registration.

This initiative is aimed at providing financial relief to students who are eager to further their education but face financial challenges. It reflects Hon. Okogbe’s dedication to the academic and personal growth of young people in Akoko-Edo II and his belief in education as a tool for societal development.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must:
✔ Be an indigene or resident in Akoko-Edo II Constituency ( Igharra, Akuku, Enwan, Ikpeshi, Egbigere, Atte, Uneme-Akiosu, Ekpedo, Apama, Ayetoro, Uneme-Nekhua, Uneme-Erhuru and Ososo).
✔ Beneficiaries will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis
✔ Priority will be given to candidates who have obtained at least five (5) credits in their O’Level results

Ososo loss an Icon.
Former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Major General Christopher Jemitola on Thursday slumped at the IBB Golf Course in Abuja and died 6th February, 2025.

The late General was at several times, the Corp Commander Nigerian Army Signals, Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to Brazil and Director of Army Public Relations.

Jemitola who hailed from Ososo in Akoko Edo Local government area of Edo State served as Obasanjo’s ADC from 2003 to 2007 while he was still a colonel.

He later became the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army before his retirement.

Today in Jigawa State, an indigene of the state will only pay N10,000 as school fees for an academic session in the state-owned university and receive a scholarship of N60,000 every session despite paying only N10,000 as school fees.

Female indigenes can attend school for free, from primary to PhD level, regardless of the course of study, and still receive a scholarship of N60,000 annually.

Police arrests 16 kidnappers in Edo Central
…as Governor Okpebholo orders demolition of houses

The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has directed security agents in the state to immediately demolish all houses linked to the 16 kidnappers arrested by the police in Edo Central senatorial district today.

A source from the police headquarters told our reporter that, “The governor’s directive to the security agents mandates that all kidnappers’ and other criminal gangs’ hideouts should be raided, and buildings harboring them should be destroyed, while prosecution of the suspects would commence.”

The governor, who commended the efforts of the security agents, said the action would serve as a deterrent to other criminals operating in the state, it was learnt.

He stated that the activities of cultists and other criminals would no longer be tolerated under his watch. He also announced that about five Hilux vans have been sent to security agents in Edo North senatorial district to patrol the area and rid it of any criminal activity.

His words: “Criminals terrorizing the state will have no place to hide as security operatives have been empowered to fish them out wherever they are. We have purchased 75 Hilux vans for the security of our people.”

The governor explained that it had been established that the buildings to be demolished were being used as dens for criminal activities, stressing that the government policy does not permit any form of criminality in the state.

He warned that, henceforth, in line with the law, criminals would have no safe haven in any part of the state.
