PRISON BREAK? A man who escaped from Dillibazar Prison in Kathmandu 14 years ago has been arrested. He was caught in Gongabu on Wednesday.

The man had been convicted of foreign employment fraud and sentenced to 3 years in prison with a fine of NPR 3 Lakh. He escaped in 2010, just five months into his sentence, by misusing his privileges as a Naike.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the country cannot be run through “stunt politics” and stressed the need for good governance. He called for improvements in the legal and justice systems and said the government should focus on people’s well-being.

BIG NEWS: The government of Nepal has introduced a new Social Media Bill in the National Assembly to control fak’e accounts and fals’e information online. The bill makes it illega’l to create fak’e profiles, pages, or groups, or to pretend to be someone else on social media. Those caught could face up to 3 months in jail, a fine of NPR 50,000, or both.

Similarly, spreading fals’e information that harms Nepal’s security or national interests using fak’e identities or social media could lead to up to 5 years in jail or a fine of NPR 15 Lakh. If approved, it will bring stricter rules and punishments for social media users in Nepal.

Google has decided to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in its Google Maps app. This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered that the body of water be renamed in U.S. government documents.

The name change will only appear for Google Maps users in the U.S. In Mexico, it will remain the Gulf of Mexico, while users outside the U.S. and Mexico will see both names on Google Maps.
