Little by little things are changing for the better. It’s been a while since we have worked on the old girl but some major changes that have been getting put off are all finally getting done. I’m not sure what to be more excited about. The electrical bay that is getting completely redone and finally upgraded or the entry way / cockpit area where most of my time gets spent. I know I can not wait to see either location start to really take shape with all of their perspective goodies that go in their places.

Oh my oh my. What have we got here. Looks like Beverly is finally getting some much needed love. We’re finally updating some things that I honestly believe should have been too on the priority list, but with the curve ball life had thrown at us, this was just not an option. But the 12v electrical Bay Area is finally getting redone. Follow along as we get started on this exciting adventure.

So we haven’t been very active on here lately and honestly that has a lot to do with life’s changes over the past few months. We are not living in Beverly full time anymore. Now as much as it’s sad to say that, it’s also a great thing. With us not needing power all day every day we now have the ability to fix what was a nightmare of a solar install. It scared me every time I looked at it but I knew I needed down time to fix it. Insert tear down picture below. There are many changes to come with this rebuild and we honestly hope to be able to sell the old Outback solar charging system to be able to do some even further upgrades. There is a little more tear out to finish and then it’s rebuild time. The rebuild will take a bit of time but we will post updates as we can. Thank you all for following along still even with our absence over the past few months.

What did you do this week?

Well we took on a big remodel job on the two youngest kids bunks. This was one are I’ve been very unhappy with from the moment B climbed into his bunk for the first time and had minimal room. I promised him from that moment that we would rebuild so he could have some more room. So this week while the boys were away we did just that. I tore everything out between the walls and rebuilt. We had a small amount of patch work to do as everything was glued in, but we are back together and able to sleep in comfort now. We still have a little patch work to finish and some finish sanding but we will tackle that next week. Tomorrow the kids all get to go pick out new paint colors for their bunks if they want to do everything can have a fresh coat. This mod makes me much happier for the kids.

Ok I’ve got another question for y’all. Have any of you added a screen door into your coach while still using the factory door? If you did what did you use? Do you have pictures of the work if you have installed one? I’d like to add a screen door but want to retain the factory door so I’m looking for ideas.

Took Beverly out to stretch her legs again yesterday. Next major task to take in is clutch adjustment. Hopefully it’s not to bad.

Well we got to (re)trim out a few things in the bathroom and made a major change in the entry way. I kept trying to wrap my head around how I wanted to bring the stone around the existing floor in front of the shoe rack. Well….. after a conversation with a buddy today he asked me if it needed to be there. Well no it really didn’t as it was just going to be hollow space. So away it went. I am so happy with how this turned out. It makes the entry way feel so much bigger as you walk in now, which I never even imagined. Tomorrow I’ll recut some flooring for the front of the upper platform and then run it down the side in front of the shoe rack. What do y’all think of this small change that made this area feel sooooo much bigger?

So we didn’t get to work on what we had originally intended on working on this weekend but we still made some great progress on things that were needed to be done. The entry way is starting to really take shape (still not finished but man does she look so much better) , in wall shelving for the bathroom is almost complete, the back splash top cap is finally installed and a couple other small odds and ends have got much needed attention. I just love to watch the transformation take place.

With hump day over with and the weekend fast approaching, what are you planning to work on with your rig? We have many projects to do yet both inside and outside the rig, but one thing I would like to work on is getting the cooking bay ready to install the black stone slide frame. One of the biggest exciting factors for me in the coach is getting our outdoor entertainment area setup with mini fridge, cook top, and entertainment. Then we get our canopy figured out and installed and cooking in the wild is going to be wonderful. Of course we will still be cooking on the tripod Over the campfire but options will be endless.

Panel by panel it will all come together. Last night we got most all of the front cap done but ran out of daylight so we will have to finish it tonight. Trims will need to be removed soon to finish the lower sections but very happy with the progress. My only gripe is the condition of the front cap from previous owners. It’s pretty beat up. Maybe someone has a line on a good replacement?

After many hrs yesterday working on the street side we have most of the ( over the years of sitting outside ) dirt and grime cleaned up on Bev. I still want to do a couple more baths for the big girl but she’s looking much better already. (Fresh paint is really going to change things). But for now I will get back to polishing out all of the stainless. We also got all the gas lines from the propane tank re ran and hooked back up yesterday as well. Now I’m excited to get the slide out made for the black stone and start cooking outside.

Today is a special day for the kenevans. Not only is it St Patrick’s day, but it is also the youngest sons birthday. Today Mr Bently turns 9 years old. Man o man where does the time go.

So I wanted to do a quick test panel to see how hard it was going to be to polish this ol girl out. This is about 20 minutes worth of work. I need to sand out the really bad scratches but I think overall this is going to be pretty good. Polish changes everything and it’s going to make me want to paint big Bev asap.

As life gets extremely busy from time to time we get side tracked and don’t post as much as we intedt to. During the coldest parts of winter time was spent under the bus upgrading to new parts so Beverly was able to make road trips with minimal issues. One thing we never got to share was how the upgraded interior was coming along.

The front of the bud has been done for a few months now. The kids bunks have been built, lived in, and now redesigned for a rebuild in the near future. (We need to maximize space for the two youngest just a bit more). The pictures from the rear are fresh build. We finally have the back walls built the shower enclosure framed and skinned and are almost ready to finally finish the flooring.

Progress hasn’t stopped by any means on Beverly we just have been to focused on what we’ve been doing we keep forgetting ti grab the camera. So here are a few pictures to show some of the things we have been working on the past couple months.

This weekend was spent under the coach yet once again. ( Not my most favorite place to be ) but we lift, and are almost completely level finally.

Guys we want you to officially meet…………………………………………………Beverly……………………AKA…Big Bev…………………………..

This bus spoke to me when I first seen it. Something about it told me this was our future home from the moment it popped up in my search. Everything about this bus just reminded me of my grandmother for some reason. I believe she would light right up if she was here to see it in person. So after some discussion we agreed to name it after her. This ol girl is and will forever be a part of our family and we can’t wait to share some of our special moments in big bev as we travel around the country seeing gods greatest creations for us to view.
