COMP HIGHLIGHT!
We got together with Brian and Ellen Jarvis - the coordinators for The Atlanta BBQ Store Classic in Cu***ng, GA

Dates: November 15-16
Prize purse: $2,850
Money and trophies/awards given: Grand and Reserve Overall, 1-3rd in the Chicken and Rib categories get cash and trophies, BY Pork ancillary pays 1st place with trophy
Entry fee: $200

This will be the 3rd year for the Atlanta BBQ Store Classic. In addition to the Backyard competition, there will also be people’s choice, dessert ancillary, and Kids Que. Their favorite part of the contest is something started last year, the Team Potluck on Friday night. It’s a great way to see your BBQ friends and family who you don't get to see much and to hang out before the competition kicks into gear on Saturday. They are going to provide this again this year and hope to invite more of the judges, all BBQ teams, and sponsors to the Potluck.

This competition is put on through a 501c3 charity they formed in 2019, The Jarvis Foundation. Their goal has been to use BBQ (including the store and this event) as a vessel to give back to our surrounding community. Every year they partner with a different charity and have raised close to $15,000! This year they are partnering with The Place, a local non-profit charity in the Cu***ng, GA area since 1975. They are excited to see how this BBQ event can make an impact in our surrounding community!

Their top tip for teams? Practice with the meat you’re going to cook with and learn to nail tenderness.
