In Memory of Dr. Carey Latimore
It is with great sadness that Experience Voices and the Where Ya From? Podcast team learned about the sudden passing of Dr. Carey Latimore (guest for Episode 28: "Juneteenth" and contributor on the recent documentary, "Juneteenth: Faith and Freedom"). In honor of Dr. Latimore, we want to share this clip from the documentary with you. Please join us in praying for his family and others closest to him as they process and mourn while also celebrating a life that impacted so many...including our own host, Rasool Berry.
"Mrs. Latimore remarked that the connection Dr. Latimore and I had on the podcast made it seem as if we knew each other for years. His story describing the importance of his own hometown helped me understand the value of knowing "where ya from" more than any other guest." — Rasool Berry

Something is wrong. We've let the voice of the world become louder than the voice of our Creator, God. Someone once said, you can judge the health of a tree by the quality of fruit growing on it. What is growing in your life? The fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) or something else?
If you're struggling with finding your place, your purpose, or God's plan for your life, start at the beginning. Read #Genesis 1 in your #Bible and be reminded of God's original purpose for all of our lives.
Carolyn Custis James is hitting us with hard truths in episode 7 of @whereyafrom.pod. Like, Share, Subscribe, and Listen at https://linkin.bio/whereyafrompodcast!
It’s no secret that women form a majority in most churches. Women's ministries and #devotionals with floral borders abound, but for one daughter of a seminary president, she found the vision for women in many Christian spaces much smaller than what she read in the #Bible. The struggles she experienced and saw other women going through: #infertility, unmet desires for #marriage, #abuse, and struggles with faith required a much more robust theology than what she was often offered.
This week's guest, @carolynezer discovered God’s vision for women as "ezers", warriors called to join forces with men, through what she calls the "blessed alliance". She found a deeper #purpose for herself, for women, and all of the church, called to fight against evil and #injustice together.
Tune in to @whereyafrom.pod tomorrow to hear about Carolyn's international journey and the impact it has had on so many! https://linkin.bio/whereyafrompodcast
Should our mobile phones really be called "phones" anymore? How much time to do you actually spend a day calling someone vs. using a different app?
Phone #addiction may seem harmless but it isn't. Cases of #depression, #anxiety, #sleeplessness, etc...have all increased as people have become more attached to their #smartphones. It's a technological #pandemic that doesn't show any signs of slowing down...unless we each make a personal decision to break the #habit and give our time to something better for our brains and our lives.

You know, the kind that makes it hard to breathe and causes your sides to ache. @Christina.h.edmondson is not only a clinically-trained #psychologist who helps people work through racial trauma, but also someone who sees #humor as a key component of #healing.
