In this video, the mayhem kit is put to the test using a Roland TD-11 module. The goal was to see if all triggers were "plug and play" in the module with minimal to no module adjustments. I made zero module adjustments and did not have the second crash or hi-hat hooked up due to time constraints but overall, the kit was playable right out of the gate! I must apologize for the lack of cable management and utter disarray of the jam space! The next Module Mayhem video, everything will look much better overall! This is the unboxing video for the kit I will be using for the Module Mayhem series that will take place in the near future! This kit from Best Choice Products was the cheapest adult drum kit on Amazon! When I bought it two months ago, it was $264.99 and now the price has gone up to $299.99. This is the perfect kit for an acoustic to electric conversion however, for a beginner it would be a fine starter kit. Intermediate and professional level...absolutely not! It came with paper thin hi hats and one crash cymbal that would definitely crumble like a taco shell. The shells are made of poplar wood. The mylar heads are not good and it even came with a pair of sticks that must be made from balsa wood with no finish on them! The hardware (hi hat, cymbal stand & kick pedal) is alright for the beginner level but above that, it's not good. It's all single braced and the hi hat stand is not very sturdy! I would only recommend this kit for beginner's or for an A2E conversion. Enjoy the video and thanks for watching! , Welcome to the first chapter in the Module Mayhem series! This series will dive deep into the world of electric drum modules by setting benchmarks and testing those baseline settings with custom build E-Kits with myself and a couple other fellow drummers along with the fine people at Magnatrack! Each of us will build a similar style kit outfitted with the same triggers and cymbals provided by Magnatrack! Welcome to the E-Drum Syndicate.
Here at the Syndicate, we take a scientific approach to what goes on inside your favorite electronic drum modules.
What works, what doesn't, and what can be corrected.
The goal is to understand a module's ability to provide the functionality needed to be the heart of a great E-Drum kit conversion.
We will first set a baseline or "benchmark" of functionality to work from.
Once that setup is proven repeatable, we will
take on a new drum module every week. Using the modules'
internal functions as well as our own course of external
corrections to the drum, cymbal, or hi-hat controller.
Finally revealing what modules can provide stellar performance and which ones become a new listing on eBay.
