Coming 2024, WEATNU Records will provide new artists an entrance into our label without agreement to sign, allowing them to release directly on our bandcamp, where their music will be free for download (only). This will keep the torch lit and moving to the next years of our journey as a label as we are now 9 years old. This is an exciting time to watch the underground move in a new direction and hear what is going on in the audio landscape. This was the original vision of our label in 2014.

angel on fire - panic is : love - from Jason Norwood
The true beginning of angel on fire happened around 2001. I still had the trusty travelling 4-track, a guitar, a bass and an effects processor. I worked long hours as a delivery agent, living alone in a tiny bedroom apartment. A friend had introduced me to industrial music, and a strange thing happened; my longtime interest in the world of shoegaze music blended with the darker, heavier industrial music (in fact, I’d liked it since being introduced to Cabaret Voltaire several years before), and angel on fire was born. Oh, yeah, and all the instruments had to be played as quietly as possible—both as a courtesy to my housemates/landlords, and as an aesthetic. What happens when you play quietly and amplify?
If there is an image in my mind of recording this album, it would be sitting on the carpeted floor, leaning against my chair, obsessively recording, sometimes overnight, thanks to a wave of manic energy (I had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder not long before). The title “panic is : love” came spray-painted on a parking block at the end of a dead-end street that I passed on my bicycle, and it stuck with me. The cover photograph was taken by my father in the 1970s, lifted off a proofing sheet with all of its abstract damage that fit perfectly with the album’s broken sound.
“panic is : love” became a bit of an obsession over the years, appearing with different mixes, different segues. I re-recorded most of the album in 2005; this Transmission Nova edition follows the idea of remixing and remastering, and it consists only of the 4-track recordings as the album was originally meant to stand. As with “asunomi (tomorrow i will be something)”, there are imperfections in sound quality that were left in, to not damage the music itself. This version is presented in high-definition 48KHz/24-bit audio in lossless formats, with a PDF booklet, and contains an extra CD’s worth of material recorded during the same time period that didn’t make the album.

angel on fire : asunomi (tomorrow i will be something) - words from Jason Norwood
This album is probably the strangest album of the five, having been recorded over a 48-hour period of not leaving my bedroom where it was recorded and not sleeping. It was not originally listed as angel on fire, but is such an obvious pre-cursor to what became “panic is : love” that I switched it, making it first in the timeline. 23 years after its recording, it still took some decision-making to re-release it; ultimately I decided to let it stand as a more abstract personal statement about mental illness, an interesting experiment that decided to hang around.
With the original 4-track cassette transferred into the digital realm, I was able to mix it as an angel on fire album. Sound quality is limited—that strange need to record the music meant that I wasn’t making it under the best conditions. I did what I could to mitigate the limitations of the 4-track, but ultimately did not want to damage the tone—so the issues are there, including playing mistakes.
This edition preserves the order of recordings on the cassette (with “no coffee” deliberately running out of tape at the end). It contains a PDF scan of a poetry book called “prison songs” created alongside the album, and includes two 20-minute pieces of instrumental music recorded around the same time as the album, in different locations with the “travelling 4-track”

Synthesis Noir - our 3rd sub-label has come. Our new label, like this one will have the darker elements of music. Instead of guitar-driven post-punk/goth - It will house EBM / Industrial - Coldwave and Darkwave music, this also can be futurepop, dark electro, etc.
Beat-releated at best.
