I enjoyed sharing my story for an author event of practicing the seven pathways during several years of head and neck pain to discover that I had a rare tumor.

💫The first pathway of thankfulness has the power to shift your mindset for the day- sending a crowd of stressors packing before taking root in your mind. It also focuses your mind on God’s goodness and all the goodness in your life.

During the most unsteady times of suffering misdiagnoses God threw me a life-preserver, a clear God-thought came to my mind- start your day with thankfulness.

Instead drowning in the constant reminders of my limitations or envy, I created reminders of the goodness in my life through the new routines of the seven pathways.

The new morning routine of the seven pathways, starting with thankfulness centered me on God, aligned my thoughts, and helped me to grieve loss with hope, and walk though this journey in peace under pressure.

1. Thankfulness magnifies 🔎 the focus on the good and lessens the magnification of the self.

2. Thankfulness lightens the weight of any load whether it be pain, suffering, trials, or any difficulty.

Instead of elevating trials and complaining, I elevated the small wins.

Celebrate the small wins. 🎉

You can learn more about these seven spiritual pathways here:
www.sevenpathways.com

Here are three ways that you can incorporate the seven pathways into your daily routine:

1. Buy my book, Seven Pathways: Ancient Practices for a Deeper Relationship with God.
2. Use my Bible study, Seven Pathways: Journey through the Gospel of John with your small group. A six-week leader’s guide is at the end of the workbook to help you facilitate your small group discussion for each week.
3. Go to www.sevenpathways.com if you would like to experience the digital version of the Seven Pathways: Journey through the Gospel of John. It is a progress web app, so that you can enjoy the digital version just like any app-you just do not download it from the app store.

Thank you, Hallways Magazine, Winter 2024-2025 for highlighting my two Seven Pathways books and app!

These seven practices helped me care for my soul, recenter my life, and give me hope during a rare cancer journey. While steeped in research noting the benefits of these practices, I simultaneously strive to create a connection with readers through weaving in my own challenging health journey, and how I experienced the life-giving power of these practices and how they can be personalized for your own journey.

More updates to the website coming and opportunities to share about at retreats too! I would be honored, if you would check out sevenpathways.com!

Thankful to be surrounded by an amazing group of women from my class at Harpeth Hall and others in this Hallways magazine!

In a culture of perpetual noise and bombarding us with thousands upon thousands of images a day, the spike in the number of women experiencing anxiety is not surprising.

In an article in The New Yorker, David Owen details how researchers are growing progressively concerned about the ever-increasing littering of the "soundscape." According to Bruitparif, a nonprofit organization monitoring noise pollution, people who live in a constant state of elevated levels of sound pollution have higher levels cortisol, the primary stress hormone leading to an increased risk of these physiological and physical problems, including heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep problems, weight gain, diabetes, anxiety, depression, digestive problems, and more.

Not only do we struggle with external noise, but also with internal noise. You may be eager to hear the voice of God, but you may be frustrated by the onslaught of internal noise.

God offers us a daily practice in the Bible of silence before Him as a solution to:

reduce your stress,
calm your whole being,
produce greater self-awareness in relationship to God, others, and the world,
better focus which leads to better decision making,
wisdom in when to speak and when to be silent,
confidence that God is ultimately able to work through your mistakes,
and security that God loves you on your good days and bad days.

Interested in learning more about how to engage in the practice of silence for the purpose of connecting with God, go to sevenpathways.com to learn more from the author and Dallas Theological Seminary graduate, and buy her two books on Seven Pathways or experience the Seven Pathways digital Bible study and meditations.

Grateful to be interviewed on Pastor Jim Wood's podcast who founded a special place called Wears Valley Ranch in the beautiful Smokey Mountains. I always enjoy sharing about the impact of Seven Pathways in my life and the gift that these pathways are in one's spiritual journey to a meaningful relationship with God. These timeless, ancient practices will help you slow down, connect, and get refreshed to face life's challenges.

Pastor Wood and his staff have created a special place providing year-round homes for children from crisis situations for over 30 years, education through their school, St. Andrew's School, and then a christian sports camp, Camp Arrowwood for children, ages 8-14. If you are looking for a great organization to give to or for volunteer projects that your family or small group or church group might join there are many opportunities. Check out the Wears Valley Ranch to learn more: https://wvr.org/ and our conversation below on his podcast, Abiding in Christ.

He is Risen! Happy Easter!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope though the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3

“I could never myself believe in God, if it were not for the cross. The only God I believe in is the One Nietzsche ridiculed as ‘God on the cross.’ In the real world of pain, how could one worship a God who was immune to it?” John Stott
