This happy smile is courtesy the wonderful I recently indulged in at
At the time of booking I was informed of a 24 hours deadline for 100 % refund on cancelation
This reminded me of a very strange experience with a cancelation policy I had recently- sharing it with you all ....
I had planned a with friends to in but due to an increase in workload, I had to bail out of the trip
The travel company I had booked through, assured me of a 50% ( or more) refund after talking to the resort people
Another friend also had to cancel and she was informed by him of no refund as the hotel will be unable to sell the room so close to the date
( I had canceled on Mon, she on Tues and the trip was from Fri)
We both mulled over this and then decided to speak to the resort directly. Due to scenario travel operators had been offering fab discounts & 100% refund on cancelations everywhere
Keeping this in mind, we called the resort. Imagine our shock when they told us no money has exchanged hands and they are simply holding the rooms as per the operator's request who does regular business with them
Back we went to chat with him. He flat denied it and said that he can send us the screenshot of the payment sent to the hotel
Perplexed, we didn't know what to think or do when the owner of the resort ( ) called us and assured us of a 100% refund. He again reiterated that " No Money " had been sent to them for booking to date. He gave us his number and requested us to call him if we didn't get our 100% refund by next day
That's when the tour operator returned us our full amount
My faith is certainly shaken and I have been questioning my sense of judgment in trusting someone so and recommending them to others too
In a world shaken up by , can people really afford to do business like this? When word of mouth is the best thing any biz can ask for, why then would someone behave so?
QOTD: What's your take on this?
