The good news is we have the Handley Family to keep us sane! We will be caravanning a half lap of Oz together. Up through Central Australia to Darwin then across the Savannah Way to Port Douglas and down the East Coast!

All in all we came out of this trip pretty well considering some of the horror stories you hear on the road!

We finished up our last night in style just the way we like it. In the bush, over looking the water with a campfire! Reminiscing about all our amazing adventures. Playing “remember when” and “what was your favourite”

Christian: it’s only the beginning for me! We are definitely the lucky country.
Jaqui: had an amazing time, went too quick.
Tahlee: wonderful but sad it’s over.
Xavier: surprised about Uluru. Had a pretty bloody good time.
Benji: the driving was hard, and yeah Uluru was good.

Some stormy rainy days exploring the south coast of NSW, more beautiful beaches and cute little towns!

Parliament House ✅
Royal Australian Mint ✅
Australian War Memorial ✅

A long exhausting day learning about our currency, the difference between the Senate and the House of Representative and taking in the many stories and significance of what we read and what we saw, finishing with a lovely service at the end of the day listening to the last post.

Huge sand dunes, amazing views, more swims along the east coast, we even saw some dolphins.

Bunking in with the Smith’s beautiful bbq dinner, thanks for the hospitality Smithy and Sarah!

It’s raining and we are home in under a week!

📍 Byron Bay 🌈 🍻 🐳

After changing our route we decided to do 2 nights at Byron!
Started with a cute little market on Saturday night then a day exploring including the lighthouse, some shopping, beach, random afternoon tunes and a few drinks on the foreshore!
We spotted a humpback whale and a calf which was super cute too!
Can certainly see the appeal it’s a beautiful place!

Couple of quiet days travelling further down the coast with some Rest and Relax at Tony & Mons in Brissy!
Real Beds! Gee we’ve missed those!
Benji was happy to spread out, had some swims in the pool, a little explore along Southbank and delicious dinner and dessert with Fiona Olivia and Summer!
Loved seeing you all.

We pulled out jumpers for the first time in forever! Some patchy rain and cloudy skies!

Bundaberg Rum Distillery (still don’t like Rum but the chocolate coffee liqueur will be perfect for Xmas drinks!

Bundaberg Brewed Drinks was much more up our alley! We tasted every flavour and took home a couple of 6 packs!

Urangan Pier in Harvey Bay a whopping 800m long! Xavier’s Birthday Celebrations (pancakes for brekkie, maccas for lunch and bangers & mash for dinner)

Fraser Island for a full day.
• Lake McKenzie 😍
• Central Station with 100yr old sand filtered water from the creek!
• 800 and 1000 year old Satinay Trees 😳
• Driving along 75mile beach! With speed signs! The local highway of Fraser Island splashing in the waves was a bit scary!

Christian: Rum’s not all that bad! Especially at 10:30 in the morning!
Jaqui: the Satinay trees are mind blowing!
Xavier: Molasses smells horrible and my birthday was the best
Benji: Fraser Island was pretty good.
Tahlee: floating down Eli Creek was fun!

What a beautiful place! Kids loved it, we loved it and we’re actually able to relax!

Whitehaven Beach was definitely a highlight onboard the Camira Cattamaran.

Lunches, Dinners, Ice Creams, waterslide heaven at the Big 4! Movie nights at the outdoor cinema were a hit!
Lots of card playing! Lots of drinks!
Truly a relaxing 6 nights! ☺️☺️☺️

Cedar Creek Falls (pretty but no swimming due to the snakes)

Further south today with a touch of rain!!! Nothing like Victoria though!

Mondays Adventure was aboard the purple Camira! Sailing the Whitsundays!

Amazing crew, Tunes, Drinks, Snorkeling, Beach Hike to Hill Inlet lookout 😱 Whitehaven Beach, Lunch, more tunes, more drinks! 👌

Almost 10 hours aboard the catamaran with only Xav and I getting a little woozy at one point! Kids all agreed it was one of the best days!

• Some lovely drives down the coast, lots of rainforest, lots of beaches!
• South Mission Beach was lovely, warm wavy water, perfect swimming and playing for kids.
• Townsville for dinner and exploring.
• Castle Hill lookout and of course Tahlee’s zipline across the jaw dropping gap!
• Dinner of the waterfront
• BBQ with the Smith’s
• Sneak Casino visit for the boys! Including scooter ride 🛵

Kids are excited for BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort today! 🏝 6 nights of kid heaven! 😝

Christian: Townsville not a bad part of the world!
Jaqui: bigger than I thought! Nice though!
Benji: it’s been crap lately (to be fair he also also has an ear infection)
Xavier: liked it at Discovery Park!
Tahlee: ZipLine was the best!

Today was a difficult day!
Today we started our decent south!
Not sure if we’re happy or sad to be heading homeward! 🫤🙃

Port Douglas has been amazing though!
Warm waters! Pituresce beaches! Super fun caravan park!
Here’s the summary:

📍Cape Tribulation for quiet stunning and secluded beaches! But no swimming due to croc risk!

📍Daintree Rainforest learning about the entire ecosystems from forest floor to canopy! And a close encounter with a Cassowary! 500 year old trees and some dinosaurs too!

📍Mossman Gorge beautiful fresh waters and little rapids! Grateful that my kids are good swimmers and we could experience this!

And can’t forget the caravan park! Pool ✅ Waterslides ✅ Pizza Night ✅ cooked in the pizza oven! 🍕 😋

Well and truly hit the tropics!!

Spent the afternoon exploring Milla Milla, Zillie and Ellinjaa they were all so beautiful, Milla Milla was a beautiful little dairy town where my grandma (Uma) spent her childhood! 💚 was so nice to imagine her living here!

Babinda was a cute little surprise! Josephine Falls and Babinda Boulders, you’d think we’d be sick of swimming in amazing locations but no…

Banana Plantations (we bought some from the side of the road) and Sugar Cane Trains!!! The mountains are amazing and everything is GREEN!!!

⛽️ 2.25 (looking forward to east coast prices) 🤞

A few nights on the road stopping at roadside camps, fuel stops, sneaky roadhouse beers!

Before pulling up at Karumba for two nights! Always good to be back on power with big showers and washing machines!!!

It was a cute little fishing village with huge river inlet, sunsets to die for, right on the edge of Gulf of Carpentaria. Benji put a line in but no luck! We had heaps of cute little kangaroos throughout the day next to the vans too.

Fresh local seafood lunch! 🍤 yum!

Late Dinner at the pub last night where we discovered hundreds of cute little hermit crabs making their way down to the beach! And a few cane toads 🐸

Benji: fishing was fun! Geelong in the granny! Wooo!!
Xavier: the giant grasshoppers were cool.
Tahlee: hermit crabs were the best.
Christian: hermit crabs were cool bringing back childhood memories!
Jaqui: seafood lunch was delicious!

This brave little soul went for a ride on top of Townsville!

📍 Kings Canyon Resort 📍Kings Creek Station ⛽️ $2.60 🚗 4013km This place is beautiful! Sunset Drinks and Live Music! 🍻 was a highlight! • 6Km Rim walk around the canyon, early on Friday morning. This place was epic, kids had to actually climb up and through sandstone rocks, and up onto super windy lookouts, sheer cliff faces, beautiful colours, gorgeous gorge and natural garden beneath us! • Camel Burgers at Kings Creek Station! • Finished with more live music and dessert at the resort pub last night! Christian: Rim Walk Unbelievable! Camel tasted like Beef! 😂 Jaqui: Tough slog at the start straight up the side of the canyon then BEAUTIFUL! Benji: 6/10 Walk was good! Xavier: really liked it, best bit was the walk! Tahlee: Liked the walk and finally finished Stranger Things! 😭 👉 Next Stop Alice Springs.
