I was very curious to know,šŸ§

Who is a Neurotypical? Who gave them the power to decide whatā€™s normal for me ?

And then I unearthed something by Google šŸ¤£( Swipe to find out, on next page especially the last line)

I thought, Hmm..Thatā€™s a nice way to address an unaware and unkind human.

So Typical šŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Neuro-typical? ( thatā€™s how I ended up using this iconic moment from F.R.I.E.N.D.S )

I really donā€™t want to call folks Neurotypical, especially the ones who are kind and accommodating to us and hence I address them as Allyā€™s!

And that the truth.

Though I believe we are so much more and labels donā€™t justify. Being Neurodiverse, accepting it, talking about it, having an account to share the journey with other neurodiverse folks, digitally connecting and everything that came with this community is the highlight of my life recently.

If this brings me closer to folks I resonate with and resonates with me, I am simply happy !

Keep looking up, thatā€™s the secret of life. - Snoopy

The girl in this picture, dear lord she was fierce ! ( she is me few years back)

My life did come crashing down twice since then but I wake up each day, doing all my inner work to be that fierce again.

Understanding depression, trauma and discovering my neurodivergence, I felt like a existential crisis hit me hard. During a recent session though I uncovered that I was afraid to dream big again, I was afraid it will all come down crashing if I dared to dream again.

I have to get past that fear. The only difference with the girl in the picture, she was ignorant but still fierce. Now that I have grown and accepted myself, I have the@mission.

The mission to fiercely celebrate my Neurodivergence and this time, do it without any shame or guilt.

I AM LIVING MY TRUE POTENTIALā€¼ļø

This , Letā€™s celebrate neurodiversity and letā€™s be real, we function differently and thatā€™s beautiful.

Let no one, literally NOBODY tell you that you are not enough.

Stay amazing šŸ’•

We need to change the narrative about our Neurodiversity.

Self acceptance and Self Awareness is the key to change the narrative and perspective to turn your ADHD to your advantage.

And on a broader sense, letā€™s challenge the current narrative out there with our unique brains.

There are challenges I face and I keep up with strategies for it to aid my strengths and that all it takes to use my ADHD to my advantage.

Neurodiverse is a very cool umbrella term !

Judy Singer, a sociologist who has autism, started using the term "neurodiversity" in the late 1990s. It refers to the concept that certain developmental disorders are normal variations in the brain. And people who have these features also have certain strengths.

Letā€™s explore this further, would there be discoveries and innovations without Neurodiversity?

Doesnā€™t Neurodiversity make this world so much beautiful?

So why deny the idea? Why deny acceptance? Why deny inclusion?

Wouldnā€™t accepting neurodiversity make us more human and realistic than blindly following a system which needs updates ?

And lastly I will put this thought across, if these genes exists over generations of human evolution, doesnā€™t that mean it has some significance which is benefitting ? ( Food for thought)

Let me know what you think !

Thatā€™s why itā€™s called ā€œ Neurodiverseā€ as an umbrella term.

My Top 5 favorite Monk Practices I borrowed and customized for my ADHD and well-being !

šŸŒøThe vow of silence- Is a very is one of the very powerful techniques to become an active listener, not just for others but to your own body.

šŸƒDid you know you breathe differently in different situations? Well I didnā€™t before I started observing it. Itā€™s one of the first things taught to a monk. Observing your breath is a way your body communicates and thatā€™s why breath work is a great way to master it.

šŸŒ± Monks eating habits reflect more compassion and less damage to the environment. Some monks in parts of India doesnā€™t eat root vegetables to avoid disturbing the earth. Itā€™s also evident through years of practices that a monks way of eating is also helpful for our gut. The gut and brain is connected, so I am not surprised how much our eating habits could help us if done right.

šŸ’«Grounding is a very popular term now and we are familiar about it being used to bring us back to the present. Monks simple living is more attuned to feel closer to earth to feel grounded. Feeling the movement-wind- air- and just observing without any expectations. I love biking, so I made sure to make a ritual out of it to keep me going and spikes serotonin levels too.

šŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Meditation is the most popular mindfulness technique borrowed from monks and there are various kinds. Visualization in particular is very beneficial to an ADHD brain which wants to explore so much more from reality. Induced change of consciousness is scientifically linked to increased dopamine and serotonin receptor activation.

Which one will you give a try ?

Or have tried? Would love to hear your experience!

Follow for more such contents coming up!

Until then

Re-parenting yourself is a beautiful way of self-acceptance and giving yourself what you needed.

Moreover if you ask how ADHD can benefit from this?

Firstly, self-acceptance is not for a Neurodiverse folk to learn the Neurotypical ways rather itā€™s coming up with ways your unique brain benefits.

Hence, reparenting yourself is also makes sure you are enjoying the process of parenting your ADHD brain.

Each one of us is capable of putting in place our own systems and all we need to learn is to communicate with our own body.

I was gravitated towards understanding how monks live because it felt so much simpler. It felt easy to integrate that into my everyday life.

I am here to Empower. We can do this!

Practices from monk living is holistic and thatā€™s why I love it too.

Stay tuned for more!

Till then stay Amazing!

Hi, Meet Puggu šŸ¶(He/him)

He kicks my butt when I am slacking and helps me with new perspective šŸ˜…

I remember that It helped me to keep doing things when my mom is hanging around. My ADHD Brain liked having accountability for the drive to do things I didnā€™t enjoy much.

Eventually when I grew up I discovered , Library was it !!!

There were strangers around sitting quiet and I could do things faster and without much distraction.

In work space too was easier to focus for me with colleagues around.

But it was mess when I started working from home and thatā€™s when Puggu was introduced.

We treat him as part of the family now šŸ¤£

He helps me focus and also while regulating intense emotions! ( He is huge and takes up most my space in bed so I cannot avoid even if I wanted to šŸ˜† )

We are gonna roll with it for now šŸ˜…

When I came across this reel, I realized itā€™s time for Puggu šŸ˜

2. Post its are my life saver !!!! Just have to remember to look. šŸ¤£( Thatā€™s all , easy peesy)

3. Keeps forgetting my childhood BFFs birthday. This time I did wish after a week šŸ™ƒ ( Better than a month after her birthday, progressssss)

4. Had a long chat about launching a website and everything else. Two days later, in the morning after I woke up I remembered the actual reason why I wanted a website. šŸ„¶( Phew! That was close)

5. Keeps searching multiple things that pops up in my head and keeping it there so that I can access when I remember again šŸ¤” ( or forget it completely šŸ¤)

šŸ“¦ Outside-the-Box šŸ“¦

ADHD thoughts and ideas are usually described ones outside-the-box.

Letā€™s me Burst your bubble here !

The freaking box doesnā€™t exist for me, I never see a box or a bubble or a line or anything. Itā€™s limitless opportunities to think like an infinity loop.

By now I think you all are familiar from my posts, there is both upside and downside to everything with ADHD brain.

Which means, we have unique problems and unique solutions!

There is a high possibility of blowing your mind with endless ideas and at the same time where most struggle with is ā€œOverthinking ā€œ

The masters of overthinking, who will play in loop every small thing about life, ending up exhausting themselves.

The urge to be a perfectionist, coupled with overthinking and ending up getting distracted, ends up in a ADHD Paralysis.

At the end, nothing gets done which was supposed to get done whereas probably something else will get done which was not needed urgently.

In short, not lazy but difficulty in prioritizing and ex*****on.

This is why we need awareness. Channelized with proper help, you can have a unique team player on your side!

Awareness is a simple attempt here to give you all a better understanding of whatā€™s going on with an ADHD brain. It will mean the world if thereā€™s someone who can understand and support.

We donā€™t want you to put us in a box , we rather want you to come outside of yours ! šŸ˜‰

10 UPSIDES TO THE DEFICITS (ADHD Edition)

1. šŸ„ŗā€œBig Feelsā€ šŸ˜- Thatā€™s right, the ability to feel my emotions so raw and fully to experience life!

2. šŸ’Žā€œ Bird Eye Viewā€ šŸ¤©- the un-filtering of sensory cues usually filtered by normal Brain makes us unique thinkers who are futuristic.

3. šŸ”ā€œ Dora the explorer modeā€ šŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø- finding things out of the ordinary because of lack of understanding when to stop leads to unexpected discoveries.

4. šŸš¦ā€œ No boundaries ā€œ šŸ’”- never settling for the norms or traditional ways makes for revolutions which others are afraid of.

5. šŸ”®ā€œ One way is never the wayā€ šŸ”€- low tolerance to repetition is the secret behind never being afraid to fail multiple times.

6. šŸ“šā€œ Hands-on experience ā€œāš™ļø - the need to apply ideas without fearing failure makes for inventing new ways.

7.šŸ™Š ā€œ Brutal Honestyā€ šŸ’- makes for amazing critics and counselors when channelized with empathy.

8.šŸ’” ā€œ Creative Powerhouseā€ šŸŒˆ- can come up with ideas which is detailed and unique with multiple layers of depth.

9. šŸ§©ā€œThe Charismaā€ šŸ§²- probably should have been the number one lol. A million words explaining the life experiences and everything we read, we can strike a conversation easily if we want to !

10. šŸ‘ ā€œThe Leaderā€ šŸŽ¤- the keen sense for group dynamics with emotional intuition makes for great leaders.

šŸ”Ž The Boon of Hyper-focus šŸ”

When I did exceptionally well in topics which I found interesting while the ones I didnā€™t like I would give-up and sleep, it was not something which rang any bell. There are disciplinarians out there thinking itā€™s just about getting a good smack.(which is so wrong!) The adhd brain is not lazy, it just doesnā€™t know to prioritize and is distracted easily if something doesnā€™t seem interesting.

I would feel dumb reading one paragraph multiple times and understanding nothing whereas if itā€™s something I am biased towards, itā€™s ninja like lightening speed of reading and understanding.

Because while growing I kept a secret that I function differently, I realized following my interest is the only way I can not feel dumb.

There was no turning back when I came across the field of toxicology. It just simply compliments my brain to think where the field demands proactive thinking as a skill. Many adhd individuals do well in research because of the same reason.

Though I faced a downside was keeping up a schedule. It was an internal tug of war between hyperfocus and adhd executive function deficit.

Doesnā€™t make sense right? How can my brain fail to execute something I am so passionate about?

Well thatā€™s when getting organized becomes a challenge and needs help as well.

Most importantly being kind to yourself to not burn out as being hard on yourself just worsens the condition.

Thank you for being a sport to read about my journey! šŸ’—

Stay Amazing! šŸ¦„

Why need for awareness for neuro-diverse individuals?

Well, the thing that mostly gets unnoticed or never discussed is how an adhd brain is highly susceptible to mental illnesses than normal.

Unfortunately growing up a girl in our society, it was not lady-like to show aggression or have emotional outbursts. I relied to passive aggressive means as a kid which was secret well kept within me. I would break my stationaries or tear up pages to feel I have expressed it.

Over the years, the passive aggression took a toll on me and when life threw a curve ball it was wrath of the hell and I was being told again, itā€™s not lady-like to show aggression.

Most importantly the awareness is to help individuals to get professional help because there are tools available which a professional can help with. Mainly when regulating any kind of emotions from impulsivity to aggression becomes nearly impossible.

Many in this spectrum do resort to spiritual practices to feel calm because the practices help with sensory overload.

There is upside to each symptom which makes for unique thinkers but the downside is something which needs awareness and education.

Do share as much as possible and thank you again for all the love and support šŸ’—

Stay Amazing! šŸ¦„

Story time !!!!!

For years I have struggled with understanding my brain and how it functions. For starters, itā€™s not that I donā€™t care but I keep forgetting all important things and eventually my close friends took a funny spin with it by sending reminders like ā€œ Hey itā€™s your best friendā€™s birthday, wish her ā€œ

I am tearing up a little bit while posting this because I am overwhelmed. Getting diagnosed changed my life and how I perceived things about me.

I discovered I am multi potential because I couldnā€™t stick to one thing and got bored. I would end up doing multiple things and push around my assignments till the last moment. Though that benefitted me as I did well both academically and extra-curriculum, it did affect my personal life in ways I didnā€™t understand until now.

This page is an attempt to give a glimpse into this to create awareness but most importantly, this is my self-help attempt.

I need to have a constant creative outlet to function nearly close to normal people. I chose creating content as this will be something I can constantly rely on for my own mental health and at the same time have fun and educate . ( yaaay )

Also couldnā€™t find much pages on ADHD run by any Indian, so why not šŸ˜ (nervous af)

āœļø Single line art !

Something I actually discovered randomly while scribbling during an anxious phase.

I started scribbling sketches simultaneously when someone was talking to me on call. Itā€™s like I cannot sit there focusing, I had to do something or fidget around. Also not that I am not listening, I am listening but I am scribbling or fidgeting too.

I do get away with this during calls but in person, it might get annoying for person talking to me.

So I started incorporating questions and comments to avoid zoning out but someone pointed that out as having control issues šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

The truth is I am not trying to control the person, I am trying to control me to keep me focused. So yes I am highly misunderstood and so are people with similar spectrum of syndromes.

We have a genuinely good heart but are often misunderstood in social settings.

As like everything else I picked up, I did stop drawing these art and switched to something else. But I do want to share it here as a thank you for following my journey here and all the love I receive.

Can you figure out where the line started and ended in this picture? šŸ¤”
