Happy birthday to the one and only Maya Deren, born on April 29, 1917, in Kyiv, Ukraine. An experimental filmmaker, choreographer, dancer, film theorist, poet, lecturer, writer, and photographer, Deren revolutionized the American avant-garde with her 1943 masterpiece MESHES OF THE AFTERNOON, a film that has influenced everyone from Sun Ra to Barbara Hammer to David Lynch.

EFOTalkz will be an online event that will consist of a film screening with a special interview and possible live q&a with experimental filmmaking pros and upcoming talent. Revenue from event would be split with filmmakers! STAY TUNED!
