Snobbies, tonight we have Ethan’s pick for our hot new topic Summer Hours. He chose a very long film, but one that is considered a modern Classic already. From the mind of the LEGENDARY Director, PTA (Paul Thomas Anderson), comes “There Will Be Blood.” Guess star Andy Harding for a brief moment on the pod, we talk through incredible lighting, incredible soundtrack from Johnny Greenwood, incredible story and yeah…an all around great time. Caleb was not here this week so we miss his presence. This was a heck of a film and we are excited to talk about it. Excellent choice Ethan. Enjoy!

WELCOME BACK!! Snobbies, we are jumping in to our née topic, Summer Hours! Will these films capture the heart of summer? Ricky’s pick seems to know a thing or two about summer time…“Night Is Short, Walk on Girl”, by director Masaaki Yausa, is animated film filled to the brim with distinct and insane animation in the best way possible. We laughed our way through the whole film and thought it was one of the most unique and crazy things we’ve seen in a long time. It was a great change of pace to watch something lighter hearted and simply fun. Caleb is absent for this episode but we manage to also talk abour our theater experience of Memoria, and Ricky confronts the Snobs after the last Film Bro episode that dropped last week! Don’t miss it! Enjoy!

GUEST STAR Parker rises from the ashes of the long lost episode he once perished with. We started this reflection journey with a film starring Juliette Binoche talking about the value of a copy and we end this reflection journey with a film starring Juliette Binoche discussing the value of art. Summer Hours, by Olivier Assayas, was perfect and beautiful and perfect. We discussed the meaning and value of art, where does it draw its value from, sentimental, prestige, cost, age? We discuss how incredible this house is and the feels that it invokes. Ladies and gentlemen…this movie was delightful. We truly hope you enjoy this episode.

Today, we come to you a day late. Apologies Snobbies. Today, we have Eric’s pick for Reflections part 4. We watched Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan.” GUYS. This film was CRAZY! In a turn that I wasn’t expecting…one of the most uncomfortable moments in a movie I have experienced. And this film also has probably the most actual reflections in all the picks we’ve had. Caleb, Ethan, Jared, and Eric talk about mental health, pressure of excellence, growing up after being held back emotionally, etc. This film was stunning, scary, beautiful, and uncomfortable. We hope you enjoy the discussion and the incredible performance by the excellent Natalie Portman. Enjoy!

Welcome back for round two of REFLECTIONS! We watched Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Birdman.” Michael Keaton stars in this deep introspective journey about a man that used to be famous and is now coming to grips with the fact that one day he will leave this earth and what will his life show for it? A blockbuster from 1992?! NO. He wants to be known for something good and for something meaningful. Struggling with mental health breaks and possible suicidal tendencies, Keaton’s character must navigate his play and the circus in his mind. Okay, hey Snobbies. I'm writing here from a parallel mirror verse, don't ask...I got stuck during the episode and am hoping someone smashes a mirror nearby. ANYWAY! We wrap up BOMB MOMS tonight! We watched a legend of a film tonight. Mirror takes a deep dive into A LOT of issues and meanings. The things is...we really had a hard time explaining how or why we loved this movie so much. It holds some of the most incredible shots that I have seen in a film (That wind scene....oh man) But for the most part, you are going to just have to watch it and ENJOY!

WOOF! Okay Snobbies, we have a special movie here with special guest...ANOTHER ETHAN! This week is Caleb's pick with You Were Never Really Here. This film is dark, moving, important, and telling a story that most are not necessarily going to want to see. The Snobs talk through why this film moved them in special ways and even had more to say than on the surface. This film tackles s*x trafficking and rescuing those who seem lost. Additionally the film features a bomb mom and the snobs like her a lot. The rest is up to you guys, Enjoy the ep!

SUUUUUUPPPP Snobbies. We are in Film #3 for BOMB MOMS. This week is Eric’s pick for Bomb Moms and he picked Lenny Abrahamson’s, “Room.” Brie Larson stars in her Oscar Winning performance and Jacob Tremblay stars as the young Jack. This film is complicated in the emotions that it evokes, powerful in the message it gives, lasting in the impact it had on us. Caleb, Ethan, and Eric discuss the many facets of this film, how they would have escaped, what it must have been like to handle this Trauma, Caleb says the word “Druthers,” and everyone is like, “Whaaaaaaat????” It’s an incredible film guys, definitely check it out. This weeks discussion covers the Oscar nominated motion picture, Greta Gerwig’s, “Lady Bird.” A coming of age story about Saoirse Ronan’s character trying to find her place in this world. Her relationship with her mother was a major part of the film and how generational issues transcend throughout the years. We talk through these issues and how a mother’s impact on our lives has shaped us. We talk a bit about our favorite memories with our mothers, high school dynamics, funniest moments, and sad moments. But is Lady Bird’s mom a BOMB MOM? She had her flaws…but what Mom or Dad doesn’t? Walk with us into this pod episode, or fling yourself out of the car, either way. ENJOY!

Ricky kicks off our new topic, BOMB MOMS, with the Palme d’Or winning musical, “Dancer in the Dark”, by Lars Von Trier. Björk, Iceland’s national treasure, stars as the lead and gives one of the greatest performances in cinema history. The film is a beautiful and heartbreaking experience of a mother doing everything she can to provide for her child. After a good cry, we struggled to keep it together as we discussed the intricacies of the film’s acting, musical numbers, story, and other interesting creative choices. TRIPLE MEOW babyyyyy. Welcome to Cinema Cat Part 3! This week was Ricky’s pick and he went to the MOON with how many cats are in this film. With another Ghibli film, we watched, “The Cat Returns,” tonight. This film was delightful, wacky, feline, and beautiful. There are so many cats in this film that it puts the previous two snobs films to shame. We talk about all the hard hitting questions: What kind of cat would you be? What cat would you eat cake and tea with? Who is your favorite cat? You know, the crazy obvious questions you ask on a Cinema Cats episode. Meow, meow, hissssssssssss. That’s right snobbiest, it’s CINEMA CATS TIME!! This month we are picking films with cats or are VERY loosely connected to cats. Ricky, a snob or cat lover, is very excited about this genre. Eric is less than pleased. Today we listen to Eric’s pick, directed by the great Robert Wise, director of great films like West Side Story and The Sound of Music comes “The Curse of The Cat People.” This film is a sequel to the wacky film “Cat People.” Eric admits that Cat People had more cat content and that he messed up by picking the sequel…oh well. Ricky is gone, Jared explains the deeper meaning behind one of the great films of the 40’s, Cookie Cat talks about Budweiser a lot, and Ethan shares sentimental stories. It’s a good ep people. This is a FIRST! Today we release an episode that delves into the controversial conversation that enters Video games into the echelon of Literature, Painting, Music, and Cinema. Can video games be ART? We talk about a very beautiful and well made game called Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Ricky, Jared, and Eric discuss the medium of video games and how they can enter Art status. Also discussed are the elements that this game that we found seriously interesting; Psychosis, Motion Capture, Sound design, consultants for the game who actually have mental illnesses, script writing, cinema style video games, stigma of video games, emotional responses to games, and many many more. This episode is one of a kind and was a joy to talk about. We apologize for the audio quality in the episode, we did this from our COVID friendly homes. I hope you enjoy!

Ladies and Gentlemen. This film is perfect. Yes, that may be a tall claim, but few movies come close to the level of attention, feeling, and artistry that this film has reached. A classic from the vault of director Jacques Demy, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is a masterpiece of song, color, and emotion. In Ethan's pick, we discover just how sad we can get, happy we can feel, and cozy we can become. Eric is surprised at how short the film is, Jared is in love with the colors, Ricky's views change on a character, Caleb goes gaga for Catherine Deneuve's eyes, and Ethan is touched. True Crime comes for The Film Snobs. Caleb Zehr has been accused by an anonymous source of being something that horrifies him: A Film Bro. But are the accusations true? CSI Host Jared Klopfenstein digs through the evidence, gathers testimonies, and secretly records the accused Caleb Zehr himself in search of the truth.

This is the opening episode of a new 5 part podcast series "CSI: Cinema Snob Investigation." I’m your host, Film Snob founding member, Jared Klopfenstein. This is an investigation into cinematic crime that takes more twists and turns than any Alfred Hitchcock movie.

Part 2 has no release date as the investigation is constantly changing, but we will let you know as soon as it is ready for release.

Tune in for the trial of Caleb Zehr on the upcoming EPISODE 2 RAD DADS released this Monday.

SNOBBIES. RAD DADS ARE IN!!! This month we try to find the most Rad of Dads. It's a competition!! We've seen too many Bad Dads and we need to break this curse. Seriously.

What we have here is a first. Lets just say it. We watched a Twilight movie. Most of us have not watched ANY Twilight movies and Ricky's pick for today was the very last one, haha. Director Bill Condon, known for films like The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1, The Jonas Brothers: Fly with Me, and Beauty and the Beast remake...Condon brings the most batSH** movie we've ever watched. Easily the most decapitations in a movie we've ever seen, the Snobbies really get down to the important issues in this one. Honestly, if you can believe it, this episode is more insane than the Chef episode. Some of the snobs...just Eric...legitimately lose their minds. ENJOY!
