I’m excited to announce our free 2-part masterclass series starting on November 18TH.

Part 1 we’ll walk through overcoming busyness with boundaries.

I remember this moment like it was yesterday.

Celebrating taking the plunge with my own business 2 years ago today.

What a whirlwind.

Whoever said entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone was so right.

But I love it. It’s not an easy road and I thrive on challenges.

My biggest lesson I’ve learnt is how I speak to myself.

When I say I can’t, I don’t.

When I say I can, I do.

Be nice to yourself, set really solid boundaries and make it a habit to regularly check-in with yourself to make sure you’re aligned with what you’re doing.

I’ve learnt so damn much in two years and it feels great!

Money is a big topic in our business.

We knew that creating a safe space online for women to be brave in business needed to have regular conversations around money.

Women don't talk openly enough about it. And once we did open that conversation up, we found that many realise that their own thoughts, emotions and ideas about money aren't their own.

They are what they grew up with or someone else's idea of what money is. Rarely did we see someone take the time to have a money chat with themselves and ask 'what do I believe about money and why?'

And negative money conversations and examples have led to present-day anxiety around the topic.

Jane and I are hellbent on changing the narrative around money. We ran this workshop about 6 months ago and have over 150 people sign up for it. And we've decided to do it again.

We've reimagined and revamped it. Show me the Money Mindset is a free workshop for those who want to have a better relationship with money, who want to reignite their love of their business and realign their work with their goals to finish the year on fire.

I'll be blunt; we're not fu***ng around. This is an incredible workshop and so many had huge 'ah-ha!' moments in the first round. We're excited to light the fire and start the conversation once more.

The year isn't over.

You have plenty of time to start your new project, revamp an old one or create a campaign to help increase sales of the current one. You have plenty of time to join a course, programme or hire support.

Not enough time is a s**tty excuse and I really wish we'd let it go by now. Because the reality is you're always going to be busy with life. It no longer holds up.

If you keep putting something off, just ask yourself, 'do I want to prioritise this right now?' and if the answer is no, drop it. Don't keep it on your lengthy to-do list or in the back of your mind.

That s**t weighs a lot. And pretty soon, all those projects or programmes you want to join start to take up real estate in your head, reminding you of all the things you're not doing right now.

When, in fact, I bet you're doing some pretty amazing things. I bet you're still making progress.

Let go of the 'not the right time' fight. Either prioritise it, put in a calendar reminder for a few months time to review, or let that s**t go.

No more hanging out in the in-between.

Here's my truth:

👉 For the longest time I stood in my own way, hindering my own success.

And by success, I mean being able to live the life I want, where I want, doing what I want.

✅ Freedom is the ultimate success marker for me.

But what I was doing vs. what I wanted couldn’t be further from each other.

👉 I stayed in my head, A LOT. Any time I went to talk about my new offers or new direction of this business, I found I was shortchanging myself and my experience.

I was nervous to take the leap, to finally move into my next chapter. I was teetering on the ‘what I’m good at and what I want to do’ fence line.

I allowed the silence to take up space where my voice used to be.

And it has been painful and I’ve kept myself down and out.

There is ALWAYS an initial hesitation when you launch something new. It doesn’t mean you don’t follow through, it just means there’s a moment where you allow a little bit of doubt finds its way in.

The only thing I've come here to say to you is this:

🌈 Doubt happens.
🌈 We all hesitate.
🌈 We have the right to show up however we want in our business.
🌈 We can do hard things. (Glennon Doyle would be proud of that one!)

AND...

❤️ We have to get out of our own way. Our biggest dreams and goals will never be achieved if we keep ourselves from doing the work to get there.

What do you think are the two biggest elements of a business that are overlooked the most?

Here's mine:

1. Clarity and transparency on what they offer and to whom
2. Understanding goal-setting + its relationship to the work that needs to be done

I've worked with businesses across the spectrum from beginners to 15+ years in. Unclear offers still exist within businesses that have been around the block.

So does under-utilising goals to strategically drive the work being done in a business.

There's nothing better than being crystal clear on what you can provide and the work needed to achieve your goals.

I've got news!

Last week I shared that I have become a Certified Pro with and now I wanted to make it official.

What does a Certified Pro mean? ⤵️

It means that I have taken the time to learn more about how Asana can help my clients build better organisation and project management into their work structure.

It means that I am upskilling with a tool that I have used for 5+ years to help my clients create a streamlined work environment for themselves and whoever they work with; a team, contractors, clients, collaborators, you name it.

It means that I have the ability to host Asana workshops and events, and be one of the very few doing them in New Zealand.

It means that I get to impact others with better project management, saving and creating them both time and money.

What about the other project management tools? Honestly, I love them all, but I'm focusing my work with Asana for the time being. Trust me, they have an incredible toolkit available for both the free and paid versions.

Tuesday was my birthday and I was reminded of the power of showing up.

People come out of the woodwork to say happy birthday to you. And usually comment on something you’ve been doing.

”Love watching your business grow” or “looks like you’re doing great with x,y,z.”

This is a great reminder that your people are watching and listening.

So those days that you’re annoyed with engagements rates and metrics, remember that people are there, watching and listening.

You’re never talking to an audience of zero no matter how much it looks like it.

Keep going, keep talking and keep sharing!

Selling did not come easy to me as a business owner.

As an employee? It was so easy because I knew what benefits and features and results worked for specific audiences. It was easy for me to have conversations and then recommend the best solution for those customers.

But when I first came into the business world on my own, the very thought of selling ME and MY business made my stomach ache.

I was terrified of rejection, scared of offending anyone with my prices (ha!) and didn’t have enough self confidence to go to bat for myself.

What changed over the years? A LOT.

➡️ I asked for feedback.
➡️ I invested in learning how to story tell.
➡️ I separated myself (as Jen the person) from my business and learned from practice and the no’s that showing up is 90% of the battle.

🎉 I also learned that selling is a service.

And that the impact of my services for others creates momentum, freedom, clarity and direction for them to confidently move forward with their projects.

I was helping people build their business.

And that reframe of selling made a HUGE difference in how I showed up for my business and my audience.

My excitement and passion was outrageously visible in my messaging and Instagram Stories.

I felt confident pitching work to bigger businesses, I talked about my offers more and more with conviction, and I built incredible boundaries around what I would do and wouldn’t do for work.

Selling effects more than just
your bottom line. It affects your confidence, your content, your programmes, your audience, your self worth, and your productivity.

And that’s why Jane and I have made money such an integral pillar of conversation in our business Jen and Jane's Excellent Adventure. We have to do this work and we have to talk about why selling is so damn hard.

Last week Jane and I celebrated hitting $100k+ in sales at 8 months in our business Jen and Jane's Excellent Adventure.

➡ Almost immediately, we were messaged asking us 'what's our secret sauce?' 'How did you do it?'

➡ We were also met with women admitting that seeing that number made them feel queazy, icky and uncomfortable.

➡ And that's absolutely normal. When we don't understand our own relationship with money (and sit for a moment and ask ourselves, wait, why do I feel bad about other women making money?') it's natural for us to want to attack what we see.

💥 But here's the catch; women need to speak about money more. We need to normalize having conversations about money.

💥 We need to ask more questions and build better boundaries around how we spend and receive money.

💥 We need to raise our effing prices and work on realigning our money story and mindset daily.

And yet, we see women talking themselves out of starting their own business, investing in programmes and putting themselves first in fear of never making that money back.

There's so much more to money than money itself.

• Learning the framework to confidently raise your prices or ask for a raise opens up an incredible amount of opportunities, allows you to work on what you love (rather than have 15 services) and spend time the way you want to.

• Money also creates more opportunities for freedom of choice. Not throwing your boundaries out the window and working on s**t projects with s**t pay because you're worried no work will ever come around again.

• Giving people discounts because you're scared they'll say no to your normal prices.

And so on. We dig deep into these important areas of life/business in Your Excellent Adventure.

Do you know how much experience you have?

I find a lot of us shovel most of our hard-earned experience under the covers and don't realise how much we can bring to the table.

Particularly working with women, I've seen managing directors sell themselves short, being too scared to list their skills and accomplishments in fear of being seen as a bragger.

I've seen women dismiss DECADES of experience because it's not the main focus of her work right now.

And I hear this all the time, "I don't have that much experience in..." as an excuse to raising their prices or asking for a raise.

I'd like to kindly remind anyone who has felt this way before: Your experience DOES NOT dissolve just because you go from being an employee or contractor to a business owner.

In fact, you now get to use your toolbox of skills to build a business that aligns with the life you want to live.

Don't downplay the skills you've built over the years. You deserve to acknowledge how much you've grown to get you to this point in your journey.
