Today we tried some brew-in-bag camping coffees from (washed Colombia), a small roastery in northern Norway and (anaerobic natural Brazil) from Dubai.
Both great coffees and good alternatives if you don’t want to bring all of your gear when camping.

One of the best coffee bars in Sweden is in Gothenburg. While in the city to meet a friend and fellow motorcycle rider from the Podcast .nor I stopped by for a coffee.
We had a great visit and tried some rare coffees and probably the best banana cake in the world.

I have talked to the people behind 6 of the lesser known brands at the World of Coffee in Athens.

Among the brands I could see were La Marzocco, Sanremo, Rancilio, Victoria Arduino, Olympia Express and Elektra.

Coffee connects people, it gives us an excuse to sit for a conversation and hear some stories. It is also a ritual that brings peace and comfort. In many cultures, tea has a similar role. I met Frode, a Tai Chi teacher, for a tea chat to learn more about his art and talk a little bit about tea and coffee culture. And I even got to try Tai Chi! Check I it out on our YouTube channel 🍵

In Rijeka, Croatia, I was introduced to Marsecchia, is a cool little specialty coffee shop owned by Lukas. There you can find great filter coffee and some nice local craft beers. Thanks to passionate people like Lukas, coffee is growing in the country.

We were looking to try traditional Turkish coffee in Mostar, a beautiful city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. But we didn’t expect to find a specialty coffee shop! Fabrika are the first to introduce specialty coffee in the country. There you can find regular espresso drinks and Ibrik coffee, a good example of the diverse coffee culture of the Balkan region. What’s inside the La Marzocco Accademia in Firenze? I was lucky to be allowed to film a tour of the place with one of the employees as a guide. For people as chill as the Montenegrins, coffee breaks are important. Coffeine is a franchise providing Montenegro with great specialty coffee. It has several locations in the capital, Podgorica. They serve a wide range of filter coffees, a way of drinking coffee locals are not so used too. I had a chat with one of the baristas who told me about the coffee culture in Montenegro, which is partly influenced by Turkey and Italy, and the rise of specialty coffee. Have you ever tried a Mossto carbonic maceration coffee? The taster trays at always feature some interesting specialty coffees. Today it was a combination of some natural Ethiopian coffee from local Norwegian roasters and one of the most crazy espresso we’ve ever tried: candy crush by . The taste was very intense and unexpected, and it smelled just like raspberry bumble gum. Very interesting experience!

Drop Coffee are one of the most famous coffee roasters in Sweden. They have a coffee shop in Stockholm’s historical centre where you can try their various coffees but they also export their coffee internationally. Tinel is one of our favourite specialty coffee shops in Croatia. All their different brews are excellent and prepared with love. We had a warm welcome by Matej the head barista who shared with us his passion for coffee and some interesting facts about Balkans coffee culture. Tinel is a place that brings people together around great coffee and will make you feel right at home if you’re passing by in Split. In Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital, you will find one of the pioneers of specialty coffee in the Balkans : Fabrika Coffee! They roast their own coffee and have another location in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina. Fabrika has been spreading knowledge and love of specialty coffee for years in the region.

Fluid is one of the newest specialty coffee shops in Florence with a modern colorful vibe. It’s a great place to go if you want to try a variety of different coffees, from espressos to filter brews. During my travels through Italy, I was lucky to discover and have a little chat with their barista. Simbiosi is participating in the development of specialty coffee in their city. They offer both a special and a conventional blend to leave people the choice of trying something knew or having a traditional coffee.
Florence is probably one of the best Italian cities for excellent specialty coffee.
